As with her sister ships, she is named for a creature from folklore - in this case, the hounds of the wild hunt in Welsh mythology (the name is pronounced 'Koonannun'). Cwn Annwn is one of 320 ships in the Akula family, one of the true workhorses of the UEN. Fitted for solo exploration and anti-piracy missions, she is regarded as a good posting, although as with all escorts, she is not as prestigious as a cruiser.
