yes it is.
is it true that they're thinking of making a hunger games movie?

if so, who do you want to cast to be the actors?

Lesslya In reply to d-desrosiers [2009-06-27 15:21:21 +0000 UTC]

Yep, it's true!!! Lionsgate bought the rights for the movie a couple months ago
But I really have ZERO idea about the cast... One thing's for sure, though : I don't want any 25-year-old actors playing 15-year-old characters!! Most of the time I don't really mind about that, but all the horror and awfulness (and greatness^^) of this book is about kids fighting kids, not adults fighting adults. So yeah, I want them to hire REAL 12 to 18-year-old kids... but I don't have any names in mind. You??

lol i hope they go through with it..but i must admit im scared theyll kill the book with all their editing

i totally agree with you when it comes to the casts age. it would be more authentic if they stayed true to the character's age.

the reason i asked was because someone on youtube put their list of dream hunger games cast up there...and s/he wants katniss to be either megan fox or camille belle ...ultra pretty girls...too pretty to even want to fight if you get what i mean.

oh gosh, i dont want them to kill the book

*Google* Megan Fox is 23, and Camille Belle is 22... But I think they both look older than that, way too old to be interpreting a 16-year-old girl. And they don't look anything like the Katniss I picture in my head!!

I think the biggest challenge about the movie will be showing things from Katniss' point of view, showing her true feelings and her motivations for everything that she does. In the book, everything happens in her mind. She pretends not to be afraid, but she is. She pretends she's in love with Peeta, but she isn't (not consciously, at least...). She pretends the pot of broth is just a pot of broth, but it isn't. It's all a game of pretending!!

So how can they translate that into a movie?? They'll have to give us access to Katniss' thoughts, I guess... Or maybe they'll let the viewers believe her lies, just like the viewers of the Games believe her lies in the book, and at the end of the movie they'll drop the bomb, and the viewers will understand the truth at the same time as Peeta does... We'll just have to wait and see, I guess!!!

tbh, i want katniss to be an average pretty, not some high hollywood type. i hope they convey the characters well.

wasnt twilight having a similar problem..cuz bella thought a lot of the stuff out..and they kinda killed the drama of her escaping alice and jaspers watch..cuz in the book she was figuring so much out in her head and in the movie she just walks out like nothing was happening..

i hope they do what you suggested: let the audience see her lies then drop the bomb. that way its like theyre the audience for the hungergames...aha i just want it to be good.

Oooh, I just read something interesting... Apparently Suzanne Collins is going to adapt the book for the movie herself So she should be able to make sure the movie doesn't completely ruin everything!!!

I want Katniss to be average too

And yeah, they changed a lot of things with Twilight... Alice would've seen Bella walking away from their hotel room and getting into a cab... Oh, well. They couldn't make a 5-hour movie (mmm 5 hours of Edward... mmmm...), so they had to make some choices and delete some parts of the book...

d-desrosiers In reply to Lesslya [2009-07-05 08:26:38 +0000 UTC]

lol five hours of edward cullen, careful now ahah. arent they changing book two as well?

I read somewhere that Edward makes Bella a different offer in the movie, but I don't know if it's really true (if the information was translated from English to French, they could have misinterpreted it, since proposal = proposition = offer...). Apart from that, I don't know if they'll be changing a lot of things.

d-desrosiers In reply to Lesslya [2009-07-31 02:07:32 +0000 UTC]

an offer huh? hmm that would make things interesting..
i heard more edward cullen was going to be on the movie..since book 2 only brought him in the end..they wanted to appease the fans by putting him in..idk anymore

Lesslya In reply to d-desrosiers [2009-08-02 17:47:06 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, in the book Bella only hears his voice, but in the movie she's going to see him like a ghost^^

I found a great argument to convince everyone that Peeta is much better than Gale!!!
In French, Peeta's name sounds like pita bread, right? Well, in French, Gale's name means scabies, haha!!

scabies? dear gosh i feal bad for the boy...but i love peeta too much to care enough

I wanted to take a Spanish class this year, but it was cancelled at the last minute (the semester began yesterday, on August 31st, and the class was cancelled on August 27th) I guess I'll just have to keep saying "No hablo EspaΓ±ol"...

CATCHING FIRE IS OUT!!!

But I won't get it before the end of September AAAAHHHHH the next month is gonna be torture, knowing that lots of people have read the book and that I still have to wait...

d-desrosiers In reply to Lesslya [2009-09-02 02:07:13 +0000 UTC]

OMG I KNOWWWWWWWW, its out and we cant get it yet*SOBS*i understand how you feel

if you get it before me please let me know~

I'll only get the book on September 25th, so there's a good chance you'll get it before me And when you do, please don't tell me anything!!!!

I feel like I should explain what I meant more clearly
Maybe they said the proposal was different, but when they translated it to French, they said the offer was different, and that doesn't necessarily mean the same thing...

PS : Sorry for the late reply!!!

That sucks!! I finished reading The Hunger Games about two months ago and I'm already sick and tired of waiting for Catching Fire!!! I don't have a single ounce of patience

But yeah, I'm lucky, here in Canada most books/CDs/movies have the same release date as in the U.S.

Catching Fire was amazing <3

I prefer the first one, just because a lot of CF seems to be in 'fast forward'.
