The song of time is supposed to transport you back in time, but here it just tells you what time it is. The moon in the bg hurtling towards the planet is the entire plot of Majora's Mask - save the world from being destroyed by the possessed moon. Link is trying to go back in time before the moon crashes, but instead the song of time just tells him it's 3:33.

in Japanese one way of pronouncing "4" is "shi" which is also a way of pronouncing death so 4:44 = Shi Shi Shi = Death Death Death xDĀ

As 4 can be pronounced 'Shi' which also means death.
