Description Best friends forever!
Hopefully the Hero's Shade/Oot Link was able to reunite with his pals after his appearance in Twilight Princess.

...gotta love lost woods/Saria's song (and great fairy's fountain theme, Zelda's lullaby, and many more).

it is true the shade warrior is Link

No one really knows for sure actually.

It's nothing more than fan speculation right now, but is does make a lot of sense.

Hyrule historia says that Twilight princess happens after Majora's mask does, and no one really knows what happens to Link after he succeeds in stopping Majora.

The sad part is that if this is true, it means Link got lost and died in the woods then turned into a stalfos, or might even have become a skull kid that grew into a stalfos.
Remember: Kokiri don't turn into skull kids because only because their guardian fairy protects them from that. Link lost navi at the end of OOT and parted ways with Tatl at the end of Majora's mask,
therefore after that he didn't have a fairy anymore, so he would most likely become vulnerable to the curse after that. Although then again, maybe his deku scrub mask would protect him.....

The good news is that it is quite possible Link does eventually manage to get back home and see saria again, since Saria's song does allow them to communicate telepathically,
which means she might have been able to lead him back, and in addition, Saria is a sage so she might be able to use her powers to help him, along side the reborn deku tree.

However, it is also possible that the shade warrior is someone else entirely, like maybe a veteran hyrule guard or knight. Maybe even one who lived during the great civil war the shadow temple was built during.

It's not known as of yet if any of these are true, or if any of them are for that matter, but that does mean we all get to pick one is our favorite.

Stalfos is from ADULTS lost in the woods. You obviously got that idea from Game Theory, did you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

loreshaper-kethal In reply to LightningDraco [2015-03-02 17:41:08 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes, sorry. Stalfos are adults that die in the lost woods. Skull kids don't grow older due to being technically undead.

Well, it's just a theory. A game theory!

On a more serious note though, I actually thought of this myself, but I think game theory and several other things influencing my subconscious is quite likely.

It is also an idea that I have seen others have as well.

It is also possible that the Shade Warrior is Links father since it is stated that Link was adopted after he was found in the woods at the edge of the village as just a baby (common plot point which usually involves dead parents), and after you get the final hidden technique Shade Warrior calls Link "my child."

Wait does the Hero's talk? If  so then does that kinda mean that we got a Link who could talk/Link could talk all along.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

starwind001 In reply to JacktheCat779 [2015-02-03 05:31:26 +0000 UTC]

Link does talk! We never hear him because it's an artistic choice by the creators made to help the player place themselves into Links story by leaving out Links dialogue so the player can fill it in themselves; it's one of those things where it's better to leave it to the imagination since each person will have a slightly different view of how Links should be.

I think the major thing the Legend of Zelda is not given voice acting is the reoccurring name Link gimmick. If they can take that out maybe then they can do Voice Acting. Even if they still have to make Link silent.

I really like this one. It's crazy to think about the Hero's Shade, since there isn't a lot of backstory on him (despite being the Hero of Time) but.. in both Majora's Mask and OoT, it's quite possible that the Hero's Shade was Link after spending.. countless.. years, potentially saving both Hyrule and Termina, but due to the nature of both games, he could be totally forgotten to the sands of time. Everything Adult Link does gets undone at the end when he puts the sword back in the the Temple of Time. And Majora's Mask it's quite possible to finish the game by warping from the dawn of the first day to the end of the last, and by speeding up the clock.. meaning it's possible that neither Hyrule nor Termina remember a single one of the Hero's Shade's deeds. Shy for Saria here, Darunia and Ruto. Even Zelda might be oblivious.

Whitevice In reply to dogman0 [2014-12-22 21:52:31 +0000 UTC]

The gist of it, as far as I can figure, is that Link gets reincarnated but not necessarily by blood. And Zelda is the reincarnation or descendent of the reincarnation of Hylia, the Goddess of Hyrule, through Zelda, she is always the Princess of Hyrule, since she represents the kingdom in more ways than one. Hylia fell in love with the first Link while Link was her Champion against Demise. Demise, being Hylia opposite is entirely self-serving and doesn't have a champion, but champions himself, leading to his hatred being "reincarnated" by Ganon, Malladus, and perhaps Vaati. (Pretty much anybody to be referred to as "The Demon King.")

Now, I believe that this system worked very well, but you get a wrench thrown in there by the Hero of Time. The Hero of Time, by his very nature and serving as the centerpiece of the Zelda Timeline, has sort of made him a timeless entity, which is reinforced by his presence in Twilight Princess as the Hero's Shade. Since the Hero's Shade seems to exclusively be the Hero of Time, (but only one version of him) it stands to reason that the Hero's Shade would appear very different, but still exist in the Wind Waker and Link to the Past timelines.

There is almost entirely no mention of what happens to Link after he saves Hyrule. Majora's Mask implies that he lives a normal life, embarking on a personal journey only to return one day. Twilight Princess implies that he championed the realm, serving high and proud as a Hylian Knight (remember, the Hylian Knights haven't been crippled in the slightest in this timeline since Castle Town was never destroyed by Ganondorf, and the Sacred Realm was never corrupted.) But the Hero's Shade would no doubt have lived with a tremendous burden upon him, having lived for any number of years before finally aging to maturity. I'd also like to think that this Link would have honored his wedding vows to Ruto, which puts him in direct conflict with the whole Hylia-Link connection as well as the possibility of marrying Zelda.

On the flipside, it's super-implied that the Hero of Time married Zelda in the Adult-timeline, the Wind Waker timeline. Which would imply that Tetra is the descendant of the Hero of Time. This works because the Hero of Winds is not the Hero of Time, meaning he's probably not related by blood to previous Link's, they even imply that he's not remotely related to the Hero of Time.. or that something catastrophic happened to the Hero of Time. (The Master Sword needs to be restored, along with the broken Triforce of Courage.) The Zora evolved into the Rito Tribe, which makes sense considering that Ruto became a Sage (being a Sage apparently makes marriage impossible, and that implies she doesn't get to live out a normal life.) And this could imply that the Zora no longer had a royal family.

The Great Fairy = Fi theory also works here, since the Master Sword has to undergo "repairs" much in the same way as it does in Skyward Sword. I also read a theory that the Seven Sages actually don't account for all the sages and that certain sages are charged with keeping the Master Sword in working order. All these serve as possible, viable theories based upon the knowledge we have. Nintendo seems acutely aware of them, but at the same time, none of these are necessary to enjoy the games, which I think makes the games even better. You can entertain the idea, you can dismiss the idea, or you can actively search for more evidence... the result is the same:
The Legend of Zelda is an amazing series!

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

LightningDraco In reply to Whitevice [2015-03-01 22:27:57 +0000 UTC]

I understand it's all theories, but...

1. That's from the manga, right? The manga is NOT CONSIDERED CANON.
2. Tetra being Hero of Time's descendant... Wtf?! Link returened to his own time to relive his lost seven years. WW Link is reincarnation of OoT, but not by blood. Ever heard of Era with No Hero?
3. Great Fairy being Fi is IMPOSSIBLE! Fi is a spirit of the Master Sword. She had only one purpose and she returned to the sword to have her eternal rest, resulting her never appearing in any of the games that come after.

Do not take these theories as fact until Nintendo confirms it so.

Yet I agree that Zelda is an Awesome series!
