Description
Not technically a Seahorse. Yeah. Right. This was at last year's display at the Birch Aquarium of all the seahorsies. This is one of them... leafy dragons. Tube fish? I cannot remember the technical term for their breed, but they're not "sea horses" per se.
Why can't we all have colors and flashy stuff like them?

Yep! Like everyone's said, This is actually a Leafy Seadragon, Phycodurus eques. They aren't seahorses at all, but a relative. You might think of changing the name so that people aren't misinformed.

Hehehe! Definitely! They're so hard to photograph without good equipment. I really should go back to the aquarium and try taking new ones with my better newer camera.

I know this is an old post, but I was digging through a search for some stuff and came across your pic. When I read your description, I thought maybe I could help clarify for you.
This is a sea dragon, a leafy sea dragon at that. Sea Dragons and Sea Horses are both types of pipefish.

Yup, leafy boys. The aquarium had a big seahorse exhibit (I think they've changed it out by now) and they say pretty much up front: these aren't sea horses but they sure look like em They're all so gorgeous, anyway, I should go back with my new camera and try to get a better more in-focus shot

Yes yes! -THAT- is a seadragon... *nodnod* I knew it when I saw it. I was going to do some new seadragons for dragon-adopting based off a pic of one of those I found... but never did it... > .> They're "normally" found in the Australia/New Zealand area, I think... *puts a geek sticker on her forehead and wanders off*
