EDIT on Dec. 10, 2008:Darkened the picture to bring out the detail and was able to bring it into better focus.
This is Ironhide from the 2007 Transformers Movie.
I drew this with a #2 mechanical pencil, .7mm lead, free hand. It took 4 hours to draw.
OMG, I bow to anyone who has drawn or even attempted to draw this mech. I was amazed at how much more difficult his is to draw than Optimus. There are so many angles and the shading had to be done for better detail on this one.
Again, not a steady hand when it comes to straight lines and curves, but I find that, with this particular drawing, it worked for me.

I don't know, really. I've always been able to draw. But, I don't draw very much because it takes a long time for each piece.

Yes! Personally, I love 'Bayformer's (love this term, too) more than the others. Others were too simple.

I love how complicated they are too. I kinda drew my own Bayformer...I don't know if he could be considered as such, but it's Ironhide's sparkling from my story "Night Fire." He's in my 'Transformers Drawings' folder in my galler, under 'Sunshadow,' I believe.

I drew my own 'Bayformer', kinda-sorta. A couple of them, in my 'transformers' folder. I consider them that because of the style, I stole Ravage's style for them.

But, yes, I suppose I drew the sparkling in the Bayformer 'style.' I've drawn all the Bayformer Autobots from the first movie, though.

Do you remember if someone asked you to colour this and some of the others head drawings you've made?
I'm asking, because I've found the coloured version of some of these drawings into another gallery, but those surely aren't the original ones because their size

Ah, yes, I have seen what that person is doing. He/She is stealing all kinds of Transformers art. I'm going to let the bigwigs like Matt Moylan deal with it (as some of the art stolen was his and he has already asked the person to stop).

Oh, excellent. I'm glad you told them. That person is definitely getting out of hand and needs to be stopped. I really appreciate your concern with that person possibly stealing my art as well. It's nice to know that people have our backs on this site

Now I HAVE to pick up the Ironhide and Ratty toys. Frag. Looking up visual references is NOT the same as having a toy to play with while drawing >.< . CURSE YOU, BAY! WHY DID YOPU HAVE TO MAKE THEM SO COMPLICATEDLY COOL???!!!!

I'm seriously tempted to dip into my dog's vet fund to purchase Ironhide as I am going nuts drawing this commission I'm fighting with. It's of Ultra Magnus but they want him to look very Ironhide-ish.

I hear ya about the darkness of the film. And Ironhide isn't in the cool visual books that they had for the first movie, because, well, he wasn't going to be in it until the last minute. The toy is definitely a good reference to have. I relied on it heavily to draw 'An Ironhide and Chromia Moment.' I also used several comics as reference too.
Interesting idea to have Ultra Magnus looking a bit like Ironhide. I'm curious to see that.
