Description Velis are, and I never knew this, tropical relatives to gnomes. I saw them in my Encyclopedia and was charmed by their description; I HAD to put them down on paper.
Essentially they’re Gnomes but from a more destitute tropical environment. Logically they should be just as smart as their northern cousins, but maybe when they were separated they didn’t advance as fast, or their society is younger and hasn’t had the time to develop. But for whatever reason, they are still tribal and love climbing trees for the “giant” fruit they bear. I’m not sure they would be statistically different aside from aesthetics; I think I’m going to make them the same.

Just as their northern cousins, they have white hair. I imagined their eyes as green or hazel. They are just a friendly as their cousins as well.

Mind me asking which encyclopedia this is? I have tons of books about mythical creatures, but I don't think I've seen this one yet!

Well, gnomish ingeniousness can be translated in a number of ways. Think about how different the gnomes of Eberron and Dragonlance feel, for example. If these gnomes put all their mind and power into connecting to nature and integrating themselves into the cycle of life, what wonderful places their villages/lairs must be! I imagine even the Elves would become jealous of what these little critters can do to/with/about plant growth...

I haven't thought that far ahead yet. I still have yet to put stats to most of these guys yet. Heck I haven't even made the classes yet, only the general class names and archtypes. It's a daunting task building your own gaming world, but 20 years of DM/GMing helps out.
