Description
A Valkyrie. Female spiritual or celestial, and arguably angelic, being that is both warrior and gatherer of fallen heroes. It is a Scandinavian myth and isn't a traditional Mesopotamian based angelic being like most of the others, but, I like to think we're operating on the fantasy idea that in this hypothetical fantasy universe these celestial being exist in their own right and that the humans that perceived them were interpreting them in accordance to their culture and didn't invent them or own them, nor were they related to them.
So the Valkyrie here is part of a sublime unified celestial order that exist beyond the definition of culture, in this case being Scandinavian. Otherwise we'll have a silly fractured universe like D&D.

I'm deep in a project I am slowly completing. Unless you are in the table top RPG business. What did you have in mind?

Nice job in the SSU, valkyries are Nordic counterparts of Amazons and often act as guards for the Norse goddesses.

Note the goddess Frigga asleep with a few of the blonde beauties.

very cool. though, personally, though seperating them from the mythos, i would try to maintain a nod, if you will, to the original source of the myth.personally, i tyry to comple, tely seperate my creatures frmlo their original myth. yet, i will sometimes paly with the idea of some creatures being Created by those myths.

Thank you!
I kept them female celestial beings who are warriors and collect fallen heros for the afterlife. However, giving them a human cultured armor would limit them to merely human fabrication. I gave them armor and weapons that looks like it has celestial origins not nordic. As far as coloration goes, she has light blue skin with golden glowing fiery hair and wings, like most of my celestial angels. We can pretend that when scandinavian people saw them they depicted them in the best way they could, and that was making art depicting them with their own human armor, skin and weapons. However, had one statyed still on purpose long enough for a nordic artist to depict the nordic people would mostly thing she is quite alien to them, and this would make sense to, had it happened.

Curiosity, you consider some aztec "monsters", like Quetzalcoatl on you world or the Valkyrie is the only exception no-mesopotamian your consider. Will be very interesting to see some gods like Quetzalcoatl or Tlaloc in you style.

This is just in reference to angels and demons. If I added Quetzalqoatl I would put them in another gategory other than angels and demons. However, this is a God, and I am not using any gods from myths that exist in real life and am instead making my own dieties. So he will not make it to the final cut, neither will Odin, Zeus, Rah and all the other gods in real myth. the creatures are one thing but the gods are too specific to real world cultures and you couldn't use them without just making earth all over again. This isn't earth.

Oh Ok, sorry for comment about that without the reference necesary of the work you making this time is only about demons and angels. I know the Gods are very difficult to put in any world someone create. You rigth when you said the deities are too specific. Anyway... Out of this work, I know than you make a great design of this gods if you want it. I like some much you view of the creatures you drawing.

You didn't do anything wrong, it was a good question, actually.
What I have noticed a lot of fantasy writers do is make civilizations and gods of similarthemes to cultures that exist in real life in nations that sound like places in real life, and sometimes even located in the same sort of weather.
For example, in D&D forgotten realms campaign they have a place called Maztica and it's in a tropical area with people that look and have a culture very similar to the aztec, incan and mayan. They often worship Quatl, flying snake creatures of noble benevolence. They have an abundance of gold there and have many fantasy creatures frm that region with pseudo aztec named, like the Ixthichitl, a monstrous manta ray creature ov evil intellect, or wherejaguars. Doing this kind of thing would be a good idea. It seems familiar to the players yet is still fantasy and not the real world.

Sound interesting I dont have knowledge about that campaing, but sound really interesting. I need to search about that.
I think that what you say about the writers, maybe is for some of this reasons:
Maybe want to show their worship of his favorites cultures in their histories without be into the "real realm" of that cultures, or have a good idea thanks of what they know about that cultures but seems very difficult extract that idea from the roots of that, and without that lost their important content, so they need that similarities, for the sake of that idea... I dont know if I explain me well... hehehe

Exactly, you explained it well. That's what's going on. We have cultures in real life we love and find amaizing and want to emmulate them in our fantasy world that isn't the planet earth.

That happen with my own histories sometimes... I love the Aztec culture (Im mexican and I very proud of the cultures were in this place before the spains come), but I really like some much the Nordic myths, tha is the cause for some of my histories are full of some "flashes" of aztec or nordic cultures.
Im think than one cant make his art separately 100% of our own influences like others said... always remain something than show influences in the idea, in the lines, in the concept, could be in any part, and for me that is very interesting.
Because let you knowing more about the artist and his particular view of the life and surroundings.

Art reflects life.
I'm not a big fan of the Spanish either. Thinking about them makes me kind of angry. I am mixed, myself. My Mother is Mexican and White (not sure what kind of white), and my Dad is Spanish and Black. But I just look like a long haired Meztizo, you can't tell I'm mixed with other things that mutch.
I don't speak spanish though, because my mother grew up in Omaha and they were racist in the schools there and punished her for speaking it, so she forgot it and i never learned.

The story of your Mother is really sad, racist is only some of the worst happen everywere. Too bad your mother forget how speak spanish, because is a very beautiful language. Im really happy for be mexican, but like in every other random place on earth is a bunch of garbage of people, gobernment, religion and crime... than dont let the country go forward.

They're supposed to be glowing. When you draw with a white backround glowing things can be problematic.
