I'm really new to Minecraft, like i only just picked it up and started playing about two weeks ago.

I followed a friend of mine's example by digging down to elevation 12 and started mining around me to create a cavern that's two blocks high to find diamonds. I ended up with tons of Cobblestone and i thought i best use it as it was filling an entire chest.

I first built a bridge over a small valley and river to the other side from my starter home and then began to build a circular tower that tapered to a smaller circle before just going up. After i go so high I then widened it to mirror the base and when doing that i realised the tower was breaching the clouds. I made sure to build a spiral stair case all the way up to the top and add plenty of torches on it so light it up. Good thing about this tower being so tall it can be seen from miles away which is something good as it can act as a waypoint to help you get back home.
