I actually am depicting a life form that could exist and actually fly on another world. Here I am revisiting the small volcanic planet that I had previously shown in the artwork entitled "Iron Wind".
This little four winged flyer is about the size of a large hawk. Its biplane body plane allows for very tight high G maneuvering.

The method I use to lay down a color wash on the card favors the use of dramatic back lighting. It is also a means of delineating the figure from the background when the gray scale contrast is low.
