After doing a trio of sketch cards of the Avatar Fire Girls I decided to do a set of the Water Girls. What started as an ordinary sketch of Yue took on a life of its own.
The title comes from a Donovan song from c. 1970.

Judging from the trailers for the "Airbender" movie, Yue will have lots of face time. The actress they got for role looks a lot like Michelle Trachtenberg.

Yeah- I wonder if the last airbender movie is actually just book 1, which I hope it is since they cut Toph who is a very important character.

The movie will be a condensation of Season 1. Imagine taking the first two episodes and the last two episodes and dropping most of waht's in between. Since Suki is in this film, I'm guessing they are keeping the visit to Kyoshi Island in.
Toph will be HUGE in the second "Airbender" movie.
From what I understand, the trilogy has been in continuous production so that the kids don't all grow up like the Harry Potter cast in between movies.

The glow is acheived by keeping the contrast low and fuzzing out the edges. With color pencil I achieve this either my blending in white or by rubbing the image with a colorless blender. I also started with a light blue paper.

I love that starry ethereal feeling and the way you used the star shines to form her outline so wonderfully, adding some molecular clouds to give her more form. The peaceful face (contemplating the beautiful universe?) is lovely.

This image just sort of "happened". I always start with a soft-focus ground for my color pencil works. Rather than sharpen them into focus I decided to do a Surat-like pointelist method. The stars are all actually six-pointed snowflakes.

The blues in this are lovely and make me think that if you were ever moved to do some art of The Last Unicorn it would be quite striking.
