Description More of my photos of museum paleo exhibits can be seen in my DA "Paleo & Sci Illo" gallery:

The type species of Protoceratops was found at the Flaming Cliffs in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia in the 1920's. It was named after Roy Chapman Andrews, the leader of the American Museum's Central Asiatic Expeditions. Andrews is considered to be the archetype for the fictional Indiana Jones.

This life-sized fiberglass model of Protoceratops is on display at the Museum  of Ancient Life in Utah. It is intended to be touched by children. Perhaps that is the reason that no dorsal quills were added to it. At the time of its discovery, Protoceratops was considered to be the most primitive representative of its group. Earlier progenitors have been found.

I have eliminated the background on this photo so that the image may be used for educational and artistic purposes. Please inform me if you use this picture as stock.

The right foreleg is obscured by the head. I chose this shot because it had the best light.
