I adore the new version of Janet Van Dyne who appears in the animated "Avengers" series. The Wasp is actually second only to the Invisible Woman in senority when she was introduced during Marvel Silver Age. yet she was one of the least developed characters of the entire Marvel pantheon. For years her persence in "The Avengers" was treated almost as an afterthought. Janet actually has a distinctive puckish personality in the animated series and a sprite-like look to match. I do not miss that silly turnip shaped helmet she wore when I first saw her in 1962.

THANX.
I draw sketchcards such as this on colored paper stock with Prismacolor pencils. Highlights are added in acrylic paint.

Nice I love Wasp and I'm enjoying the hell out of the new Avengers series.
It's fantastic to see how they're handling Janet, she's getting proper development a lot of focus and isn't as you stated an "afterthought" to the team. There's been moments where she alone outperforms the rest of the team, that by itself is amazing.

This is one of the few reinventions of a classic Marvel character that I approve of.

I saw that show it isn't all that bad (though not as good as the 90s Marvel series). An awesome pic

I can't compare. I didn't watch most of the Marvel animated shows of the 90's.

Any chick who can stick her tongue out at the Hulk with impunity has spunk.
Lou Grant: "You've got spunk."
Mary Richards: "Thank you Mr. Grant."
Lou Grant: "I hate spunk."

I wasn't trying for a B.T. treatment. I just didn't use black lines.

It is posssible that the character designer on the Avengers series has been influenced by Bruce Timm.
