Xena of Amphipolis is the first great amazon character who was created for television. Although she is a relatively recent creation, she has probably reached a greater audience worldwide than all of her more venerable literary counterparts combined.
I have chosen to recast the role made famous by Lucy Lawless with Vanessa, the human alter ego of Ursula the Seawitch from Disney's "The Little Mermaid". This may seem to be an odd choice, but Xena also started out as a heavy.

It was the closest match I could think of from the Disney universe.

I'm especially impressed by the color contrast & detail of those breastplate/bracelet designs. As you yourself noticed, a fine compromise of practicality & style.

The filligre on Xena's armor is ridiculously complicated. I looked at several screen captures and simplified it. I looked at other DA artists renderings of Xena's outfit. None of them got it right.

THANX. Correct me if I am wrong. Lucy Lawless has grey eyes and Vanessa's are brown or hazel. I just went with spooky blue because it went well with the slate-grey background.
