Description
If you like this picture it has many sisters in this gallery:[link]
This was a produced by a simple substitutionary spell: Maleficent for Philip. Suppose that battle in the briars had come out differently? Now that's a wake-up call!
I used Disney's own style-sheet and was satisfied by how it turned out.
The title is of course:
"You Were Expecting Someone Else?"
but DA won't take a title with that many characters.

I have deliberately left Aurora's reaction ambiguous. You can read into it anything you want.

There is nothing to stop someone from writing a fanfic to this effect.

mchell-mal is correct about the nose. There are few examples of Maleficent in pure profile. Disney just didn't do them just as Mickey's ears never moved in prespective. I see now put the nasal bridge too low. Have you ever noticed that the nastier the Disney villians are, the less "Nordic-looking" they become. If you doubt me, watch the Don Bluth directed "Small One" sometime.
Regarding Aurora/Maleficent: to each her own.

I could make this into a triptych. Does any one out there want to see a sequel?

Since the previous posting I have not only created the sequel, but I have filled an entire gallery with this theme:

Oh gosh, THIS was the picture that inspired The Maleficent Seventh? That is absolutely fantastic. I love this whole gallery.

THANX
The series actually tells a story. I just drew them out of sequential order.
I plan to do more.
I still have difficulty understanding why this picture (the second I ever posted on DA) gets THOUSANDS of hits while many other paintings I put more effort into get only dozens.

I would love to see these pictures put in order, although I can kinda see the order already but I dunno the specifics.
I think it's because no one ever thought of bringing these two characters together. And you've altered one of the classic images of Disney lore. In other words, it's an epic picture. It shocks and fascinates people at the same time. I love this picture for those reasons.

THANX.
I may rearrange the "M7" gallery in dramtic sequence.
I found that least two other DA artists have tackled this subject:
"Apology" by Hyel and "Yuri a True Love's Kiss" by Malenasama
I was unaware of the existence of either when I posted my own art. I created "You were Expecting" before I joined DA. Until "Beauty and the Beast" premiered "Sleeping Beauty" was my favorite Disney animated feature. Maleficent remains far and away the best Disney villian EVER. It is as though a character from "Lord of the Rings" was dropped into a Disney movie by accident.

People with spooky logos are hitting this one. Is Ahyicodae the Linnean name for a family of beetles?
BTW: The final "e" on "You Were Expecting Someone Else?" was cut off due to space limitations.

I decided to post the image that appears on my business card to show the sort of art I do for the real world.
I am surprised that "You Were Expecting..." is evidently my most popular deviation. There must be a
mMaleficent Underground out there with an unfulfilled demand.

Maleficent is totally Disney's most awesome villain.

Hawt. Hee! The film would have been SO much more interesting if it ended this way. I'm not generally one for slashing together characters, either. I've never really understood that urge.
But with these two? Perfect. Perfect! Lovely job on this pic!
