Description
Here it is, at long last, a decent scan of this painting .The full-view size is enormous (~3000 x 2000 pixels). If you want to see a smaller version, have a look at the above link. (In real life, this piece consists of two A2 sheets.) However, there are lots of details that the smaller one blurs/misses.
I had to fiddle around with it a bit in Photoshop, so bits of it look different from the previous upload. Some of the changes actually bring it closer to my original intentions, though.

Thanks. It took about 2/3 months in total.

It would have been a bit less, but I had a major house move right in the middle, and obviously that slows things down a bit. It was effectively done in two big chunks, August 07 and October 07.

It also led to an interesting headache in transporting this one, without getting all the paint scratched off it. I ended up having to wrap both sheets in tissue paper, then sandwiching them with cardboard sheets. It was just as well I did, as the moving-van people weren't the most competent in the world!

Oh wow. What material is is painted upon? Is it just paper?

Yes, that's right. Catridge paper, two sheets of A2, to be precise.

Ah, I see. Sounds like a tricky thing to transport.

It had its moments! The key to it was ensuring that it was rigid and secured (and also getting it out of the clutches of the delivery people ASAP, too ...).

Nice. It all seems to have resulted well in the end, though.

It could've gone a lot worse, I think that's definitely true!

Thanks very much! And there's nothing like a heavy bolter to solve all problems...

Yeah but I rate that as being, shall we say, rather unlikely any time soon?

The thousand sons are a tad questionalble, but the marines are spot on!

I really like the way you do planets, especially the red one in the background in this piece. Nice.

Thanks. I didn't quite get the rings right, although it doesn't look as bad as I thought it might at the time.

That's pretty cool! The muzzle flash on the heavy bolter looks a bit off, though.

It's missing the side-flares. I didn't realise they should be there until I'd finished.

While very good. The Space Wolves in particular look great, the 'oses' of the Thousand Sons seems a touch wooden.
Very cool though.
