Description
BIG FILE!I originally wanted to make a video of this but never did so thought I could make it a tutorial like this.
Something I've been asked about earlier and thought I'd share it
Not much to say about it though here, but let me know if you have any questions or if anything's unclear. Wrote the texts pretty quickly so it might have some typos but hopefully not haha!
It works at least in photoshop, but it should work in any other programs that have a Gaussian Blur... thing or something similar at least.
Hope you like it!!
characters used in this are (c) to their owners!
edit: added some little things!

This is the best, most helpful tutorial I have ever read. Thankyou so much, you have no idea what a difference this makes to me <3 I've often wondered how some artists make that "soft" look and now I finally understand how to do it, thanks to you!

Em, forgive me, but how do you lock the layer? Is it just selecting the layer or do you have to do something else
Thank you!

Thank you very much for this. I've just recently started to try to blend a character more into the background because they always felt so detached. :3 This will be helpful!

That's great! I always coloured the lineart and then I added some layers to make the character "fit" with the background but I like this blury thing ^^ thanks for the tutorial~

I use PS CS3 Extended, haven't moved away from that one as it's got some stuff the new ones don't XD but this should work in all of them anyway! ^_^

would you please tell me what things the new photoshop versions lack compared to CS3? another person told me that and i kept wondering what it was...
π: 0 β©: 1
Lhuin In reply to gyappumusoka [2012-12-08 21:21:20 +0000 UTC]
Well I generally like the interface more anyway but the main thing I miss in the new versions is this... thing when you press the F key and it changes the 'screen mode' so that you can move the canvas around like in Sai.
Here's what I mean: [link]
I use it to be able to draw stuff better that's around the end of the canvas. It's just something I'm way too used to so I couldn't really work in the new photoshops because of that XD

ohh i see now. its the first thing i liked about SAI, it really makes drawing easier in awkward places as you said.
thanks for replying!

I never really thought about 'blending' a character into the background to make it look like it's actually there. Really helpful, thanks for sharing. Will you make more tutorials?
π: 0 β©: 1
Lhuin In reply to Raoran [2012-12-08 13:02:33 +0000 UTC]
Yeh I will! If I come up with some nice themes for them, I don't want to make tutorial that are out there already lots of times but something small and useful like this most likely but let me know if you got any wishes!
or I could make a poll too if there are any specific things people would like to see
