Description
This piece was produced using a photograph (the model Nutopia), a Strata Vision 3D model, which the beast is carrying, rendered using lighting based on the figure. The creature itself was entirely painted in photoshop, using my Wacom tablet and airbrush tools. The background sky was rendered in Bryce, and the whole thing was composited and finished in Photoshop. A great fun piece to do this!Very best,
Liam.

the textures on the beast are amazing! The girl should have some textures too.. She seems too clean for the pic. Or maybe its her skin color that bothers me? I don't really know to be honest. Like Smallshauni said, she doesn't really seem to fit in the image, only I don't agree on the reason (that she looks like a Tibetan)
Another thing that bothers me a bit, are the little blurry spots on the left bottom of the pic. The spots on the legs of the beast are great. It indicates sunlight blur (at least to me )
Its an awesome pic!

Thanks for the comments.
The sad thing is a more finished version of this was produced - it was shown in Heavy Metal magazine - but I lost the file in a computer crash, leaving me only this earlier low res reminder. The final piece had colour markings on the creature, more work on the girl, and heads on the poles. Also the metal carrier was more symbiotically attached to the creature, with tubes and a suggestion of cybernetic atachments. So many of the issues with this earlier version were ironed out.
I still like the "star wars" feel of it though.
Very best,
Liam.

I like that thing on the background. Inspiring monster, made me create in my imagination many things. But, the women on the foreground just doesn't suit here. She looks more like a Tibetan girl, then a Nomad. Without her it would be poor picture, but I think that it's not her, who should be placed here.
Great work anyway's

Hey SmallShauni
Thanks for the feedback. Actually the whole picture was built around the girl in the foreground, but it's not meant to be a picture of earth, or Tibet. It's an alien scene, and these are a race of blue-skinned nomadic desert wanderers, plundering ancient recks of spaceships to build their transportation units on the back of these great beasts of burden...
Well, that was the idea! The Model, Nutopia, used it in her calender, along with other fantastical portraits of her by other established artists.
Very best,
Liam.
