My first oil painting in about a decade. I lost my mojo with this kind of work because I got fed up with always drawing comparisons with Frazetta and Bisley. It's really hard to do this kind of material without people instantly seeing the connections though, so now I'm older - and less precious - I have to say it was fantastic doing this commission, and I hope I get to do many more.Related content

Would you prefer a comparison with Moebius? Just teasing. You are beyond compare! An artist extraordinaire and your own man! You impress with both the quality and variety of your art.
Your textures here are reminiscent of those comic cards licensing Marvel around '95...Flaire? Did you make some of those pieces?

When I saw the painting I immediatly thought of San Julian. The dynamic, gut kick emotion of the painting is the same reaction I get from a frazetta but the painting style is vastly different. Bisley...huh? Nothing close that I see unless his painting style has gotten a lot tighter and less garish.

Know that :
Oil like Artworks Are the Perfect Art Format for MOTION BOOKS
- Because can be seen with Most defenition And in full glory be in a Iphone or Ipad or Web Viewing ...
- Were in contrary lines End up be noisy / lacking of defenition and dirty in those formats ...
- Comics on PAPER Do well with LINES BASED Artwork ... ... BUT NOT ON DIGITAL ... WERE OILS With its Almost 3d ARTISTIC VOLUMETRIC DEFENITION REIGN You know ...
But im sure It will be alot Dificult to Explain That in a Understandable manner to all those "old school comics" artists that Migrate to digital ...
Just thinking here that Would be easy to migrate its OILS to MOTION BOOK ... WitHE xtraordinary and extreme sucessefull Full viewer pleasure result ...
I would not say the same to Expecialy in Small formats ...

WELL INK ART / Art with Lines Is just 1 Half Unfinished Degree of a REAL MASTERPIEΓE
/ INK is just the first of the 6 Stages of a TRUE QUALITY ART [link]

If you go Full SHade Painting You Do not loose Anything of the INK details ...
.. and its not That Dificult If you use the Grayscale WitH COlor Overlaying method [link]
Were As at least 60% of the Work is all done in Grayscale ...
And the lines can helpto give defenition To the "Chiaro escuro" and "Esfumato"...
And seriously is So easy to aply that kind of Technique in DIGITAL ...
The Mith that Pencil drawing + Ink + Flat colors is Faster than "Full Painted Artwork" ...
Its ACtualy not true if you Aply Just the Full Volumetric Realistic BLack&White SHade + Color Overlaying Technique ..
On oils In the Renascentism / people Aplyed That Technique In Underpainting [link] Chiaro Escuro Grisaille & Verdatio [link]
You can See expecialy the Practices of Grissaile technique [link] Wich basicaly consiste on Doing it all In Grayscale first [link] Then only after all the work done with FulL volumetric and almost finished in grayscale / aply color with Glasing [link]
But the Base Grisaille does it all everything ...
Most of all the works of Old Masters were done in this way [link] To make this amazing Results be achieved more easy [link]
Now this is the Kind of REAL ART ...
With better Thinking of Techniques i was talking about ...
Joining Old SChool To New Schools of Digital Art ...
...even more easily Than "inking" and having million ink lines that take so much time to do / You Can just DO the Full "Pencil draw with full shades & volumetrics Then Scan , Then With a Wacom Cintiq Soft AirBrush Above / And Add Water Smudge Paint to make the Full Grisaille as The Old Masters in oil Did , Then its just to Overlay Glases in Color Digitaly ...
And that way WIth Grisaile GrayScale / One can Have more easily FULL PAINTED master pieçes That Take Reaaly Less time, or as much as Pencil Inking Coloring ... Just need to "Pencil / Grayscale Improve - Overlay Glase COloring Digitaly ..
The Old School Pencil [link] to Inks [link] to Flat colors [link] Inspite of all the efforts and many hours Doesnt even reach Half of the Artistic Quality IT SHOULD ....

Ha ha! Ruben, I'm the CCO of Madefire, which means lots of business meetings, etc. I'm writing, drawing, painting and building Cap Stone - and doing some of the music - I'm also writing MONO, and some Treatment, and more... I literally barely have a moment left in the day to think! A painting like this in oils - which is what I'd want to do - takes about four days. I don't have four spare hours in a week, let alone day!
But I'm not complaining! Great to be busy!!!

Art fans compare art to other artist all the time. There's no way around that. I'm guilty of it as well. If people compare your art to great artist that means that it is good.
I'd like to see you do more work like this as well! A step in the right direction!
