Fullview PleaseMy favorite fps, Heretic. Gothic fantasy horror has never been done so well. I love this game.
Here we see our hero, the sidhe elf, Corvus, beset by disciples of D'sparil in a dank cesspool, deep in the Domes of D'sparil. Carnage will ensue.

Edit: 6/10/09 Noticed on ~RavenScarlett 's monitor, that the highlights on the disciples' robes didn't blend/were too bright. I wanted to blame it on the gamma settings, but realistically a good painting should look at least coherent no matter what monitor you're looking at it on, so I tried to fix it. Let me know how it looks now.

Do these guys even have a name? LOL I remember calling them "crazy monks" when I first met them in the third level...the name stuck!
Are you still drawing Heretic pics? If you take suggestions, I would recommend those guys you meet in level one, the red devils and the dumb naked guys (I wish I knew their names!)
I love how when you kill one of the naked ones, his body explodes and you can see the soul drifting away...

These are disciples of D'sparil.
I'm drawing more as I get around to it. The "naked guys" were actually supposed to be rock golems. We'll see what I come up with next when I find time

They're pretty fleshy for rock golems...but oh well, the game is still awesome.
It would be immensely cool (but time-consuming) if you drew a monster encyclopedia (like the ones in Castlevania) for each guy in Heretic.
What I remember so far: the red imps, the rock golems, D'sparil's disciples, the guys that throw axes at you, that monster D'Sparil rides, the giant floating skull, the minotaur and the medusas. There are some guys whose sound effects I remember, but they are really hard to describe physically. I need to play again
If you like the idea of an encyclopedia, I can draw sketches of the monsters as I play the game

It is a neat idea. I already planned on redesigning all the monsters and doing something similar to that whenever I actually find my sketch pad to bring to work, but I'd love to see what you come up with as well

Awesome, I'll start on this as soon as I find my game and manage to boot up my Windows 98.
Heretic does not have health points, but there are some weapons that work better against certain monsters? Maybe I should include that (best weapon)?

actually they did all have hitpoints, you can find the values in the doom wiki. And some weapons were less effective against certain monsters, like I think the hellstaff and phoenix rod were less effective on maulotaurs, etc.

Well I usually just played with the weapons I found and used them as I found their ammo. My favourite was the green crossbow.

I'm still confused why they would have an Heretic entry in a Doom wiki. They're two different games....are they developed by the same software company or something?

They were both made on the same software engine, and id software had a hand in each of them.

I see, now that I look closely I can see how similar they are...still! Heretic is more of a puzzle game while Doom is shoot-everything-in-sight type of thing...at least that's my opinion

I found Heretic to be a pretty straightforward shooter though. Hexen seemed more puzzle to me. Heretic II was pretty good IMO.

Sure, Heretic's no Myst, but there were still times where one got stuck in a level unable to finish because the freaking blue key was god knows where LOL
