I love! Tis groovy! The crashing wave almost looks like a barrier between the sea and the cliff! Was this a right place, right time or did you have to sit for a while?? Wow! That see is sooo blue!!!

Really those waves did that about every fifteen seconds or so... so I was out there by the edge for maybe 1 minute... while my mom was yelling at me , "get away from the edge! It'll drop into the ocean!"... I got out alright

Well all of Hawaii is an actual volcano... the entire cliff is made out of hardened lava flow. The cliff is where the lava meets the sea. Obviously at the time it was not an active flow... although the volcano was active and flowing elsewhere.

Really! Has it always been a volcano?? Old lava flow or recent lave flow?
Sorry! I ask alot of questions!!

The island of Hawaii is the result of a volcano... once upon a time there was no Hawaii... Than a Volcano happened, and there was Hawaii.... does that make sense? all of Hawaii is a Volcano(s). As for how old this particular flow was... I have no idea.

Volcanoes are a result of pressurized molten rock emerging from the surface of the earth. Volcanoes make the mountains that are Volcanoes... So there was a weak spot in the earths crust... when the pressure was great enough, from large tectonic plates squeezing together I think... the lava busted out of the ocean floor and continued to spew out and pile up on itself until it surfaced(was higher than the ocean)... it did this for a long time and still does this today.

I did take this myself. I was at the Volcano national park (It might be named something else, or it might be named volcano park.) in Hawaii and these are the cliffs where the lava meets the sea.

Thanks, for the kind comment, I was very glad at how cool this came out... It was an amazing place with the waves crashing up against these huge black cliffs... Took a couple shots to get this right, But this wave was perfect... The only thing I was a little disappointed with was the contrast between the wave and the sky, I wish it was more defined.

at first glance- i almost thought there was a split between the wave and the rock-
this is beautiful
