Appearance details: Pearlcloud’s look is a little odd for a typical clan cat—she is a lynx point, due to some loner blood moons upon moons back in her line. Her father’s bloodline has been pointed for seasons, and at this point, no one really questions how it came to be anymore. She’s far enough removed from that past her mixed blood is a minute percentage and a non-issue. Her mother was a brown tabby, albeit small. She passed along her size and her feathery tail to her daughter. Pearlcloud’s luxurious tail is of considerable length and for a long time she was certain her name would be Pearlfeather or Pearltail because of it. She has brown points and as she has aged, she has gotten a light brown gradient on her back, and the stripes on her legs and face have darkened as well. Her eyes are a brilliant blue, like her father’s and his kin before him.

History
Chapter 001. – Parental History + Birth
Hawkstripe and Needlewhisker were getting on in years when they had their first and only litter. The two never felt compelled to have kits, however, the two decided to take the plunge and give ShadowClan some much-needed kits to train, however, the two doubted their litter would survive. Needlewhisker, being one of the oldest queens to ever grace the nursery, had a particularly difficult time with the pregnancy no matter how much Hawkstripe and Blueflower kept an eye on her. Soon it was time for her to kit though, albeit unexpectedly. In what would later be seen as a cruel twist of irony given the drought that lie ahead, Needlewhisker went out on a walk and began to kit near the lake. After some quick thinking from Blueflower and encouragement from Hawkstripe, Needlewhisker gave birth to three cream-colored kittens, all the spitting image of their father (that is—until Pearlcloud’s points showed up as brown like her mother’s tabby pelt rather than her father’s gray.) The older couple named the three kits after things associated with the lake in memory of the event: the two toms were named Shellkit and Rushkit, and the lone she-kit was named Pearlkit, after the beautiful white orbs found in freshwater shellfish.

Chapter 002. – Kithood
It was not long after the birth of the three kittens that Rushkit succumbed to StarClan’s embrace. Although harsh times had not yet fallen upon the clan, he was the smallest of the litter and born incredibly weak. He died so young that Pearlkit and Shellkit could barely remember, but they noticed their parents’ sadness. In an effort to please their parents, the two bonded and never argued much. Shellkit and Pearlkit were practically inseparable despite enjoying different things. While Shellkit enjoyed playing Clan Leader and Pearlkit would oblige, she often found herself nosing around Blueflower’s den. The she-kit was calm and quite intelligent for her age, and the herbs piqued her interest. What interested her more though was Blueflower. The she-cat was an oddity among clans, hairless and whiskerless. Shellkit, who was always more blunt, had asked her why, to which the medicine cat replied she had been born like this. Pearlkit’s brother was satisfied with the answer and ran off to deliver the soaked moss to the elders, but Pearlkit just sat with her calm blue gaze on the medicine cat. “I’m sorry about my brother. I think you look pretty!” She piped up, as kits do. She continued to help organize the herbs and heard whispers of Blueflower wanting to take on an apprentice, and she dearly hoped it would be her. Fortunately, as Pearlkit’s sixth moon rolled around, Blueflower received her sign: in her search for clean water she found a pearl shining through the mud. Pearlkit was then announced as Pearlpaw, ShadowClan’s next medicine cat apprentice, and not a moment too soon, for the Moonpool and lake began to dry that moon.

Chapter 003 – Apprenticeship
With her head-start on herb organizing as a kit, the rote memorization part for Pearlpaw came easy, as did her connection with StarClan. Her wide-eyed wonder at half-moon gatherings left her in awe at first, but as she grew she had to remind herself that these cats did not necessarily gain extra wisdom after death. They could only offer the wisdom they had obtained in life. It made the trips a little less humbling, but it did not make Pearlpaw’s faith waver. She is thoroughly devout as any medicine cat should be.

It was her nestside manner that went through a bit of a change though. At first cheerful and peppy, Pearlpaw soon found it difficult to not snap back when other cats questioned her judgement—especially later on in her apprenticeship—or simply whined about the herbs tasting bad or stinging. She found it within herself to remain cool and calm, albeit a little passive aggressive. Unlike her brother, she would not speak unless she found she had something of merit to say. It made her a little mysterious, and honestly, she liked that reputation.
After ten moons of training in addition to what was more or less a headstart when she was a kit, Pearlpaw was named Pearlcloud on the clans’ journey to their new territory after remaining calm and helping out clanmates in need despite the situation being dire. Although she had a bit of a stony expression most of the journey, she beamed upon receiving her name. The loudest to cheer after the medicine cats’ private meeting upon their return to where the clans rested was her brother Shellnose. He had received his warrior name four moons prior, and was eagerly anticipating her receiving her full medicine cat name.

Pearlcloud was convinced the night she received her name that StarClan was still watching over them… however it became clear to her once they arrived at the new territories that was not the case. In fear of the clans rising into mass panic, Pearlcloud believes unless the situation calls for it, she will take this secret about StarClan to her grave.

-- The Positive --

Calm – perhaps her most well-defining trait, it seems like nothing seems to bother Pearlcloud. She may wear her heart on her sleeve and pull a funny face now and then, but her voice and actions are always even and steady even if her emotions are not.

Patient – It is something Pearlcloud struggles with, but often finds herself on the side of an even temper in the end. Although cats whining and complaining can irritate her, she has the patience to not belittle them… too much.

Resilient – Pearlcloud is made of iron. With her calm and collected attitude, nothing bothers her for long. She is also easy to trust because of this as well—if she has a promise or a secret, she will never fail to keep it.

Enigmatic – Pearlcloud’s tendency to wear emotional expressions easily conflicts with her calm and quiet nature. It makes her incredibly difficult to read through body language or direct conversation. While this seems negative, there is a bit of an allure to it, which she is quite aware of.

Quiet – The pointed she-cat speaks up rarely, and only if she feels as if she has something important to say. However, she does not let herself become a doormat. Her quietness is a choice, not shyness.

Spiritual – Pearlcloud is heavily devout in StarClan, but realizes that they were once living cats, and living cats do not know everything. She wishes more than anything that they will find their way to the new territory, but realizes her wishes may be more stubborn than productive…

Aloof – while her mysterious nature can be alluring, it can also be off-putting. Some could see the calm and passive Pearlcloud as a rather cold and indifferent cat if they do not know her particularly well.

Passive Aggressive – Pearlcloud learned to pick up smart remarks from both Blueflower and her brother Shellnose, and while the two of them are far more blunt and fiery, Pearlcloud is more passive. Her aggression comes in the form of sly, dry remarks that may take a cat a few minutes to understand.
Stubborn – There is nothing Pearlcloud hates more than losing a patient, and oftentimes she refuses to give up even if it’s become clear there’s nothing she can do to help the cat. While this may sound positive, it wears on herself, which in turn causes her to lash out at others.

Likes: organizing herbs, the smell of pine needles, eating lizards, rain water on her tongue, elders’ stories, her brother’s antics.
Dislikes: the mildew smell from leaf-fall, mud between her claws, whiny patients, too-nosy kits, hunting for catmint (it can be impossible to find sometimes, okay, Blueflower?)

Other Information:

Since she is based off of a Balinese/Javanese, Pearlcloud does not have an undercoat, and while her pelt is silky smooth, she can get a little cold in leaf-bare. Brr.
I am super open to someone RPing Shellnose! Pearlcloud is a seal/chocolate lynx point whereas Shellnose is a blue one (meaning his points are gray.) Shellnose is the spitting image of his father and he’s a lot more blunt and fiery than his sister. Despite this the two of them are extremely close.

“Peeeeaaaarlclooooud.” The whiny voice of one of the more arrogant apprentices—Toadpaw—pieced through her darker colored ears. Pearlcloud repressed a snort, and gave him a simple “mmhm” in response as she had marigold in her mouth that she was carefully organizing. Blueflower was out searching for herbs. She turned around and quirked an eyebrow at the apprentice whose face was screwed up in pain.

He didn’t look hurt, and she smelled no infection, but looks could be deceiving. However, despite giving him the benefit of the doubt, this wasn’t the first time he would have pulled a stunt to get out of cleaning the elders’ bedding or the morning patrol. “What is it, Toadpaw?” She asked, her soft voice like silk. Her concern was music to Toadpaw’s ears as he thrust out a paw at her.

“I stepped on a sharp rock or a thorn last night… my paw really hurts. Do I need to go on the morning patrol? It’ll be better by evening, right?” His amber gaze was hopeful, but Pearlcloud’s lips quirked into a smirk briefly.

“Oh, let’s see here… Oh, no.” There was nothing wrong with the paw, of course, but Pearlcloud let out a dry, dramatic huff. “It’s quite severe… I will have to ask your mentor to postpone your training for an entire moon. That is, unless you feel like you can make a miraculous recovery.”

Toadpaw looked mortified. “On second thought, I think I’m gonna be okay. See ya!” He bounded off. Pearlcloud turned around and went back to sorting her herbs, but not before she finally allowed herself to roll her eyes. Lazy apprentices. Blueflower’s snark was clearly rubbing off on her.
