I'm getting more and more references to Adelaide...

Regardless, DON'T YOU JUST LOVE THOSE GUM TREES? The colours while the bark is peeling are just stunning.

Yeah, I love gums. To me, winter is defined by the smell of red gum burning in our fire place. That one is on a friend's sheep station up in the Clare Valley. (a few hours north of Adelaide)

I don't care what wood burns in my barbie pit, as long as it makes a good steak!

Oh, there is no barbie like a wood-fired one!

Aren't they just amazing? So far all the barbies I've had are all wood fired! Makes me so happy...

Also, I'm a glutton, so that works out well.

Really? Gas seems to be the standard, for convenience if nothing else. I got my best friend one for her birthday, she was well pleased.

I usually only cook over wood while up north..

Mah prends (our lingo for my friends) have huge metal sinks that they put in a frame and use wood that they get off their own property.

And it's always GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. I'd like one for my own place too, but we don't have wood available. =X

We use the gas one most nights.

We get wood for our fireplace from the very place I took that photo (lots of old, dead trees on their property).

Nice........................... I think my housemates and I will get a gas one.. If we do at all.. Sigh.

Inside, I do hope we do, though it's an unecessary cost. Sigh...

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was a young-ish red gum (maybe 50 years or so). Apparently they can get up to 500+ years old. Since fire causes them to germinate, they tend to live a pretty long time when there aren't pink, furless monkeys cutting them all down..

Those pink furless creatures are a dangerous bunch...frankly I think there are too many of them.
