Thanks Tom, it was a bit daunting but lucky for us it was going away. Do like this shot.

I'm not surprised. Clouds like that rarely mean good weather after all. ^^

The sky always plays a dominate feature in the Lakes. Either dramatic like this or beautiful blue with wispy clouds.

On this ocassion, no. The weather was over the Helvellyn range and moving away from Keswick.

Thanks Eva. Pleased how this came out and dealing with the dark clouds and still having the definition in the trees was a bit of a challenge.

The thumbnail looked like a bog standard filtered shot, but the large image certainly doesn't. Lovely clouds, Mr N

Thats a serious looking sky! Did you get caught in it? I'm glad to see you had some sunshine for your break.

Thanks Sue. On this ocassion it was going away from us but we did get caught on two afternoons by the rain. We do wear the correct gear for walking in the Lakes, minus the sticks, so not really a problem.

Wonderful capture ~ the lighting certainly is weird, with sunshine in the foreground and the storm brewing back there ~ always makes for an interesting shot!

It was an interesting composition as I was getting the boulder in the right place and forgot to check out the sky. Once downloaded onto the laptop then I saw how dramatic the clouds were. Only used a UV filter on the lens.

Thanks Cy. That's how most afternoons looked. Sometimes we were lucky to be in the sunny bit and other times, well you know the rest.
Still think you should visit.

Hi Henry. Thanks for the comment. I was quite pleased how I keep the definition of the clouds and still keep the colour in the trees.
