Description Taken at the little jetty by Walker Caravan park Derwentwater, Keswick.

No one was around but this canoe, without a paddle, was beached, very strange.

Sigma 10-20 lens with UV filter.

Wow! The Lake District really is a stunning place isn't it? I really must go there one day. It's disgraceful that I've never been before.

Excellent composition and colours here, Norm! Great work!

A47, A17, A1 and A66, 302 miles later you are in Keswick. So what are you waiting for.

Thanks for the comment.

Haha! Yeah! I really should make that trip soon. Other stuff going on for the next few weeks, but hopefully after that I'll be free.

Haha! Yeah, I can imagine. Sounds like a plan! September is the most likely time I would go anyway as I'm just about to go abroad again.

Thanks Sue. It was a very clear evening after a dullish day. We had a evening stroll and visited this area for the first time and as you say lucky to find the canoe and a deserted beach. The results are in this image.

Lightfoot11 In reply to Scubaozgirl [2008-06-25 04:54:41 +0000 UTC]

Thanks V. It is a wonderful spot but at present the lake is about 4 feet shallower than it's normal level. Normally boats have to tie up on the jetty, as you can see it would look funny with the canoe tied to the jetty.

Drought? You can have some of our rain, hasn't stopped since I returned from the US.

We are getting plenty of rain but is drying before it can soak into the ground. There was no snow this year in Winter, therefore, the meltwater that usually fills the lakes never happen. Hope it snows this coming Winter in the Lakes or we will be visting ponds in the valleys.

They have had a bit of rain for the last week, more than the previous 2 months, so looking good. We rarely have droughts and once the hose pipe ban comes into place it will pour down for the next 4 months. That's the UK for you.

Heh, maybe someone died!

Lovely sharp photo....although, there is nothing to bounce the intensity of the red elsewhere on the photo so I find the canoe a bit...erm...alienish...

Like your thought pattern or they live on the caravan site and gone for tea.
