Description
This commission is a reward for Hayley Cometra . Her OC, Ripple Effect is a special little unicorn, who suffered a tragic accident and had lost her back legs as well as cutiemark. But because she loves the sea, and is inspired to help sea life animals, as well as have a fascination with sea ponies, she made a creative substitute tail and wheel chair to cover her loss, as wel as to make her look less off.Personally I love this OC, it's not like one I've seen before, and I like how it takes a handicap and makes it look so beautiful!
Hope you like it Hayley and thank you for your support!

What a resourceful, creative, and amazing little unicorn. On a scale from 1 to 10 for ingenuity, I give her a solid 50.

Oh. My! GOSH! I come home from an icky day at work, and I find this absolutely beautiful piece! Where do I even begin?!
The mechanics and hydraulics of the wheelchair-cart are exactly what I have been trying to create without success. It's easy to tell at a glance at this that she can bend her forelegs down if she needs to.
Her mane looks perfect! My previous versions of her did have her mane that far forward, and I was against it at first because I thought it looked too much like Fluttershy's style. But looking at it here, I realize that's not really a bad thing. That mane style, in addition to her eyebrows showing how calm and modest she is, really served to remind me why Fluttershy is my second favorite of the Mane Six.
I like how you shaded her, not just with the normal shadow underneath her and the shaded art of her far leg, but also the slight gradient from top to bottom. I don't know why, but it really adds to the beach feel of the background.
I love the water and the clouds and the bush that's near her. Including her hoofprints and wheel tracks in the sand was a nice touch, too!
Words truly cannot express how happy I am to see this! This must have been a challenge for you, especially the tail and the cart, but I really am happy with the result, and I hope this has also given you the chance to broaden your skills. Thank you so much! (HUG)

It is beautiful. And a really creative way of showing not to let yourself down because you have a handicap. Just go through it and make the best of what you have.
Concentrate on the thinks you can do not the things you can't do anymore.

Nope. Notice that she doesn't have either gills, fins, or scales? She is, in fact, a unicorn. ^_^

This is a brilliant OC, I think it is the perfect way to show that just because some has a handicap. That doesn't mean they aren't beautiful in their own wonderful way

I love it when sea ponies find creative ways to be on land.

Wow. After 5.5 years you start to feel like you've seen it all, and then the fandom reminds you anew how creative and clever and open-minded they are. I love this OC both because of the imagination, but also because of the realism. The wheel-chair is similar to real designs that veterinarians have used in the human world, and even the tail prosthetic is similar to ones used by dolphins like Winter at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in FL and a few humans who have been fitted with prosthetic mermaid "tails" to restore their SCUBA diving abilities.
(Note: saying that I think something might be "inspired by" or "similar to" an actual thing that exists in the human world is not a slight against the creator's creativity. If anything, I am doubly-impressed when the answer to a problem is not "magic". The wonderful ways that humans and ponies use their brains to overcome challenges without resorting to magic is amazing.)
Gold stars for Haley and Blissy!

Thank you for the compliments! The wheelchair-cart was mostly an inspiration from the episode "Trade Ya!", but I have heard of actual items used for dogs whose hind legs were injured. And yes, the tail is inspired from the same reference you mentioned, though I have never seen either "Dolphin Tale" or "Dolphin Tale 2", nor have I visited the Clearwater Marine Aquarium (though I'd like to someday!).
Interestingly, "magic" is the very reason why I decided to make my OC a unicorn; if I had my choice of which canon species I would make myself, I would have chosen a pegasus. However, I was trying to create an OC that no one or possibly very few have seen before. That was what made me remember the sea ponies of G1 and how I used to pretend I was a mermaid whenever I was taking a bath as a little girl. But instead of making my OC a true sea pony or merpony, I decided to make her a normal pony who is handicapped and chose to hide her handicap. But in order to get in and out of that chair independently, I needed her to be a unicorn.
So, I hope that the use of her magic isn't disappointing, but I am glad that you think I came up with something unique! ^_^

Glad you knew the reference, because I haven't seen either movie or been to CMA, either. (I watch a lot of science news and videos on TV and YT, so that's probably where I learned about it.) I used to live in Florida (for like 18 years), and I never once made it down to Clearwater.
Don't worry, I'm not opposed to magic, per se. If you're born that way then you should embrace all that you can be. I just like to see how everyday things (like chairs, writing, baking, construction, etc.) might develop in a non-human society. Magic is great for doing things like writing, using utensils, carrying umbrellas, etc., but I just find it to be a less interesting solution to common situations.
I do love your OC, she is quite inspiring. I also love LB's art, which is always amazing. Putting the two together was a great idea.

Very nice design. And quite a strange coincidence too given that some info just dropped saying that Sea Ponies are not only canon now, but are also going to play a significant part in the upcoming movie.

I didn't know that! Cool! I actually made a prediction back at the end of Season Four that seaponies would become canon during Season Five. Sadly, that prediction did not come to pass. But I would still love to see how they can interact with the characters of Equestria!

Yeah, I've been wondering about them as well. Apparently, the six must become sea ponies themselves, travel to the submerged kingdom and consult the populous on the looming threat on the surface. So it seems that sea ponies will play a big role in the movie.
