History of Ashtar and its People: The Giants
Deep within the earth, beings many times the size and many fractions the intelligence of the reigning humanoids of Ashtar exist. We call them Giants. In their caste, are included the most common Giant, the stouter and rarer Cyclops, and a series of subspecies called Giantoids: Trolls, Orcs, Ogres, and Goblin.
Now you wouldn’t think it, but despite what legends tell you, there are no giants of Ashterly origins that are the size of mountains. Anything of that nature must come from Yovagonde. The few giants that exist are around the size of houses or tall trees, and would not have the strength to stand if they were taller. As they are, their heads are smaller and their legs are thicker than tree trunks to support their towering mass. The largest population currently known lives in Sion. They mostly feast on larger grazing animals, and they grow crops, tilling swathes of land just by dragging their feet in the earth, and they have some concept of the usage of fire. They have no religion, no government, no written language, and no weapons besides tree trunks suit them unless they are made oversize ones by humanoid creatures. Their clothing consists of the skins of multiple large furry mammals. They do seem to have a wide hand-gesture communication system, which people who live in close proximity to them can pick up easily.
Cyclops are almost similar in every aspect, except they live closer to the belt of Ashtar, where it is warmer, and food is plenty. The Juphret kingdom of Elenthriel is home to some, but they are also found on Panalog. They are slightly smaller, and wear less clothing, preferring to cool themselves with mud much like pigs. Cyclops are more articulate with speech, speaking some forms of broken man speech, and can be told apart from normal giants by having five digits on their hands when normal giants have four.
Trolls are akin to Giants, but noticeably smaller, and have the ability to perform simple magic like force and pestilent fear-inducing spells. They usually defend stretches of forests as their home, and some who live long enough could eventually learn a spoken language, though their proficiency for words longer than four syllables leaves much to be desired. Their statures are similar to gorillas, and they either live in makeshift huts made of logs and leaves, or caves they’ve dug out or found. Contrary to the myth that sunlight turns them to stone, they do not actually do so. Their skin only tans quicker than us, and their magic is weaker in the day, since most of them draw their magic from nighttime moon worship.
Ogres are fatter, lazier, and stupider than trolls, and one can consider them almost oversized pigs that stand upright and have opposable thumbs. They spend their days pretending to be boulders, and they hunt by surprise. They have no magic and wander around the marshy, swampy wilderlands south of Menurei and in Mecusor and Xorem.
Orcs are about the size of humans, and they are a subspecies of Yovagondi crossdemon; a demon-giant crossbreed. Their kind have their own messy religion-less culture and they live underneath mountains with such reclusiveness to rival dwarves. Their skins are pale, and their faces look like skin stretched out over a muscle-less rat skull, with the scent to boot. They are often weak-sighted or blind, but have incredible hearing and scent.
Goblins are shorter than the average Dwarf, and in many cases similar to Orcs. But, they are capable of growing to Ogre size, should they live long enough. This is unlikely, since their violent nature often gets them killed. They breed like rats, and goblin hunting parties must focus on taking out the females and children if they are to cull the population for longer than a few months. Goblins often live in forests or caves, carving hollows into trees or sleeping nooks in cave walls. They feed on mostly fish and rodents, though occasionally they eat any stray humanoid foolish enough to let themselves get surrounded. They are tribal and normally heed the oldest goblin amongst them.
Giantoids are as common a threat to the people of Ashtar, but the true Giants are all greatly scant. Some travellers have claimed that a large collection lives in the Unknown North and Unknown South, ones who can use ice magic, but there is no way to confirm this as of now. Giantoid subspecies cannot crossbreed with each other, or any other race besides Demons and Dracovix. In the long, long history of Ashtar, the only crossbreeds between Giants and humanoid races are ones created by some sickening alchemical experiments. The results never live long. There has never been, in all recorded history, a natural child between a man and a giant has never been brought to light. If ever there were to be anything of the sort, it would require a very brave man indeed.
As for Yovagondi Giants… we will not speak of them today.

Not really relevant but they do exist in Ashtar. I thought I might write something different from the tone of the Yovagonde lore.
Maybe next time I'll explore the lore of the continents of Ashtar.
I've already made an existing map, I should also make an existing timeline of events.
