Description
Redoh/Arden
Is it Ree-doh? Reh-doh? Even Redoh doesn’t know how to pronounce his name either. It is said that Redoh’s name came from his first words quite some time after he hatched, being something between “ree” and “reh” and also from his parent’s constant disputes of how his name is said before hatching. Others say he was named after the Divine Beast Vah Medoh or the name of his race, the Rito. Some may guess that maybe he will grow up as some mediator of the Chieftain, which is not far off from the reality. His old friends Clara and Fali sympathized with Redoh and decided to give him an alternate name or pseudonym of “Arden,” the R sound from his name suggested by Fali and the pronunciation of the second syllable inspired by Clara’s knowledge of ancient Hyrulean gods, one of said Gods referred as “Din.” Despite his confusion in Clara’s explanation of ancient culture that existed beyond the recent centuries, he later accepted to use his pseudonym. Before Fali left to travel to the vast lands beyond the Hebra province, he gave Redoh/Arden a long, red scarf since he seemed to be fond of it since they were chicks/fledglings.
With his new name, Arden lives with his life smoothly in sharing his love for literature and studies with his kind Aunt, Pali like a teacher and student-like bond, but does not share Pali and Clara’s love or interest in other races’ culture. Nonetheless, he wishes to make a difference for his people, improve relations with the other races, and help advance Rito technology. While he has this ambition, he would still start off studying to become a mediator or adviser for the Chieftain, but he is not in a mindset where he desires to pursue being a second-in-command in leading the tribe. He later studied to learn how to build contraptions and create little to medium-sized statues so he can later paint them for the convenience of others. He is not without perfectionism and tends to be stressed when something doesn’t go his way in the case of crafting. Sometimes Arden has an interesting way of speech, often almost euphemistic and poetic in what he describes, similar to Jacque.
