I think this is one of my favorite concepts in the contest. I love the jacket around the hips as a side skirt. Amazing!

"It has been 5 months since I hid myself amongst the Cactuar ranks, they have finally accepted me as one of there own and show signs of loyalty. Cactuarina has been especially welcoming, with her prickly hugs greeting me each morning, 100 new needles being added to the growing pile next to my bed roll. I will add them to my clothing, as the number of needles you grow seems to add to your rank of status in the herd. This fascinates me.

The chitters and giggles of excitement have grown to comfort me as I study the herd, we are out again today, befuddling travelers with high pitched tones to convey the amusement and triumph they must feel when smacking yet another unsuspecting victim upon the face. I feel this is a custom to becoming an outstanding member of the community, the more obnoxious the response from the victim, the more status you gain... I will revise my findings later this evening at dinner."

I have learned of a new ritual, it seems in order to be accepted as a full adult in the herd, you must first beat the largest standing youth in a show of combat. I was tested of this today as a rather large male in the group attempted to assert his dominance. He approached me, puffed up in a sort of display, chittering about, a sort of mock "Intimidation" attempt. I stood my ground, and puffed out my chest, showing him I would not flee so easy. I had seen this kind of display before amongst the males. This seemed to startle him, as my breastplate was unfortunately the area I deemed more suited for most of the needles Cactuarina has shed upon my face the prior morning, he stood for a moment, perplexed, them in my disdain, spun quickly in my direction, face-long into my breastplate.

Reflecting on this now, I see where my actions went wrong. Had I been paying more attention to the rituals of the flowering female Cactuars, I would have seen that my previous display was indeed a show of dominance in the males of the community, but flirting for the females... This was made apparent after my "aggressive" stance, when the male then proceeded to "pollinate" me. I reacted as any lady with pride would have... and proceeded to whack the Cactuar with my blade, running and screaming after it with all the grace that I posessed...

I feel it is best that I study the females the next few days, as the males now eye me with both suspicion and googly eyes...
This job is not worth the pay...
