Description
My interpretation (and caricature) of Myrtle Wilson from F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. Note the color symboliciousness...This is really how I imagined Myrtle...only less caricature...ish. She was probably my favorite character in the book, and I wrote my essay on her for English class. It was about how she's most often surrounded by the color brown in the book, but also the use of the primary colors (and when you mix the primaries, you get brown, of course. Or you *should* get brown, theoretically.) Yeah.
*Great Gatsby spoilers below*
Myrtle was cool because she knew what she wanted in a relationship, even if she DID make a mistake in marrying George Wilson. Tom and Daisy have no clue what they wanted, it seems. I hated Daisy, haha. She seemed so innocent and stuff, but she was really evil underneath it all. Seriously. She killed Myrtle for crying out loud! So what if Myrtle was having an affair with Daisy's husband, Tom?! Daisy was cheating on Tom with Gatsby too, y'know! AND she wasn't really sure she wanted to marry Tom in the first place. In the beginning I wasn't sure if I liked or hated Daisy...then she killed Myrtle, and I knew for sure that I hated her
haha, I have this tendency of hating fictional people. Like Daisy Buchanan. And Holden Caulfield.
Again, like the picture of Daisy, the scanner made Myrtle look pretty craptastic as well. ("Craptastic" copyright Sparker...I think?)

Ooh, Gatsby!
Did your class dicuss color symbolism at all? I was hoping mine would, but we didn't.
I love her lips, they're so perfect!

Thanks, Leslie
Yeah, we discussed color symbolism. Had to write essays--the whole nine yards. Every color mentioned in that book is symbolic; I'm shocked that your class didn't discuss this!

I was pretty shocked, too. I'm a symbolism geek. (Care to share what each color stands for?)
