I apologize for the wait as usual, I thought I’d have time around Christmas, but turns out I didn’t! Oh well! Also sorry for no episode comic last week, hopefully I can do one this week or something, but who knows! Back to work, fun work!

Idk which so I'll suggest 2 options.
Option 1) Open presents as they may contain the stolen books...which, come to think of it, may be your actual presents. Dashie!! You know better than to steal something and give it as a gift!! Shame on you.

The present isn't big enough to hide multiple books, and its clear that the only book there isn't a spell book. I doubt Pinkie will let Twilight spoil the surprise of the present, whatever it may be. I think Twilight should talk to Rainbow Dash one more time. If what Rainbow is doing really has nothing to do with the stolen books, she should just reassure Twilight and offer to help with the search.

Talk to Dash again, and threaten to open the present right now unless she stops lying. I don't want to believe that Dash was planning to give Twilight stolen books for her birthday, and I seriously doubt that Dash would think to disguise anything as a present to hide it just in case somepony searched her house, but we don't have any other leads so it would really help if Dash confessed. If she continues stuttering and occasionally giving away information she's not supposed to know, follow through on the threat. Maybe I'm wrong.
