Don't get me wrong - painting a death with a kite means I'm in a good mood! Really! That said, I'm not entirely sure what this painting is all about. Thus, I leave it up to you to come up with a decent story. ^^ (Not that I haven't, but there are too many to post here. Background based on a couple of cloud photos I took.

This is my little short story for this stunning picture sorry if it's too long
A man named Sam believes he lost the woman he had loved recently. She was the only thing that mattered to him. Sam didn't make friends easily, he was a difficult person to talk to because he doesn't usually like to talk unless it was to her. Sam didn't feel comfortable talking to anybody except for her. She had consdered Sam a very good friend, but unfortunately Sam never got the chance to admit his feelings to her before her tragic death, and went into a long period of depression and regret. Every once and a while, Sam would become delusional and forget where and when he really was and ended up wasting his life away thinking his Love was alive and that she loved him as much as he loved her. Each time he "woke up" from his delusions and came back to reality, he became more desperate to see her. One day, Sam came across the small bookstore where he was reminded of better days when he enjoyed reading novels there or simply staying for the quiet environment that was so rare to come across in the city. While he was there, another man stepped in wearing long black clothing that left no skin showing and a short train with a musty smell that attracted flies. There was no other customers in the store besides them, making Sam feel uneasy, so he tried to act invisible by sinking into his chair and holding a large book close to his face. Sam's plan was to no avail however, because the cloaked man headed straight his way. Then the man came up close to Sam's face and looked him right in the eyes peeking out from behind his book. Frozen with fear, all Sam could do was stare back and wait until something happened. The figure spoke after a while of staring and said "I know who you are and who has died". The man's voice was inhumanely low and raspy. Sam was too confused and scared for words. The man repeated himself until Sam finally uttered "What? I don't understand?!" The hooded figure leaned in closer and breathed "TRADE!". Sam felt very intimidated and purely terrified of this man and his deadly stench. The man was slowly inching closer and closer to Sam's face as though there was something about him that the man wanted and envied. Sam knew there was no reasoning with a crazy person but he knew it was only a matter of time until someone came along and saw what was going on, so he asked "Um.. trade what...exactly?" The man replied, "Places Places Places. You be me and I be you" "What?" Sam's voice went up an octave. Impatiently, the man said, "You can take my place and I can take yours, So you may visit the soul you miss, the girl named Stella, you are deeply in love with her and you are now able to see her again." Sam's eyes widened. "Wha-..How do you...." Sam was at a loss of words. The man remained emotionless but spoke again, "I am Death, I watch over the souls that have died. We can trade places and you may see her soul. You can be with her for an eternity without worrying about her leaving again" This was too much for Sam to handle. "I DON'T BELIEVE YOU" Sam wailed. This terrible man claiming to be Death was surely just another of his usual delusions, Sam thought. Death remained motionless and watched Sam break down in front of him. After awhile of this, he reached up to the top of his cloak and pulled it down for Sam to see. Whatever Sam saw underneath the hood was enough to convince him that this was no hallucination, Death's face was simply too horrifying to imagine. After Death pulled over his hood, he backed away and stood silently, never breaking his stare. Sam was thoroughly traumatized now, but nonetheless he was desperate to see his love once again. When Sam finally accepted the trade, he had to shake one of Death's ice-cold and disgusting hands to make it true. When he did so, Death drifted back a few feet, stopped, and hurriedly shed his garments. Sam expected to see the rest of Death's horrifying body underneath, but instead there was nothing but a large pile of long black robes. Sam stayed in his chair for a long time after that, not fully comprehending what just happened. Then he slowly got up from his chair and trying his best to remain calm, Sam moved towards the pile of clothes and looked down at them. Sam guessed that he would have to put on Death's cloak he was to take his place. He bent down to inspect the pile and was hit with the dreadful smell of a corpse. He stumbled back and was positive that he was going to be sick. But, after taking a few steady breaths, Sam's mind drifted to his love and what Death said about being able to see her again. With that thought in mind, Sam found his courage and went back to put on the clothing. Without thinking of anyone or anything else but Stella, Sam quickly picked up the robes, found where his arms went and just as he was about to pull over the hood, something metal clattered to the floor behind him. Sam flinched, and thought for a split second Death had returned and wanted to go back on the whole deal, but when he looked no one was there. Sam was alone, in the quaint book store that he used to come to for peace and quiet or a good book. The object that had fallen behind Sam appeared to be some sort of scythe tool. The kind that was often seen on farms to cut crops. But Sam got the dark feeling this one was not used for that purpose... Sam pulled down his hood and snatched up the weapon. He then closed his eyes, knowing that from this moment on his life will never be the same, but also thinking of his love and how when she died part of him died and that is when his life really changed. Eyes still closed, Sam somehow knew where he was going and how to get there, because when he opened his eyes he was somewhere else. Perhaps he was in the Dreamscape, or a place that combined Heaven and Hell, or another world far away from the one Sam was used to, but he had made it. Sam gazed at his surroundings in wonder. He looked directly above himself up at the sky, it was beautiful. He could see the entire universe from where he stood. On the horizon, the rest of the sky appeared to be like a sunset except it had a golden color that mixed with the blue-green and black space above. Sam felt this place was perfect for souls to reside after death. Suddenly he was snapped out of the trance the amazing world had put him in and remembered Stella and why he had come. Sam knew exactly what to do, he seemed to be adapting well to his knew role as Death, he swung the scythe around gracefully and muttered some words in an incantation, and then Sam successfully summoned Stella's soul. A kite flew down on a light wind from the starry sky; Sam caught it. Sam used to go kite-flying with Stella at the beach all the time, he looks at it with thoughtful nostalgia but he still worries that Stella won't come and that she has gone forever just as he had previously thought. But suddenly her beautiful face appears in the misty clouds and she smiles at Sam, as if she knows he is the one underneath Death's robes. After staring at each other happily, Sam realizes maybe Stella did know he loved her all along, maybe their relationship was more than just friends, and maybe she loved him just as he loved her. They turn and stare at the dusty gold horizon with relief that they have been finally united, and are now together for eternity just as Death had said they would be.

That'd be cool if it were something like, he was an anti hero that saved the world somehow, like Constantine, but he ended up paying the ultimate sacrifice and became death in order to save the woman he loves, who is the female above. She ends up dying maybe but because she's in heaven and he walks the line between death and life he sees her watching down over him from time to time.
I'm not saying that's what it you should make it about, I'm just saying that's what I'm going to see in my head and feel when I look at this in my favorites every day ^_^* I feel like I'm looking at a pained hero who is destined for missfortune and misadventure, but always in a way lucky, who is emotionally attached to the woman above who is from his past, almost like a fond memory. I just feel like there's a strong connection between them.

this is a summary of my story....
The outcast, the glue, the underdog, ordinary, unimpressive or anything of that sort is all she would call herself. She’d hold you when you are crying and know that she’d only be hurt in return. She doesn't love easily, but when she does she does it unconditionally. Meet Celestine Summers, a sixteen year old who has decided that the meaning of life is to care for. She was ready for everything…backstabbers, friends, responsibilities, peer pressure, saving the word…..WAIT!
SAVING THE WORLD?!
With the fate of two worlds (magical and non-magical) now in the hands of Celestine and her friends, she thinks that her fate couldn't get word. But then came that four letter word that adds the cherry on the ice cream, the ketchup to the fries, the cookies to the milk…..OK YOU GET THE POINT.

And the Mother of All Things looked down on her faithful servant, and spake thusly; "Fine, you can have one day off every century for flying kites." That would be my summary, i am sure with time I could do better.

This is simply lovely. The combination of colors you chose cause me to see it as a "calm before a storm" with the eerie green above the warm sunset lights.
It looks like someone unwilling to pass over told Big D to "go fly a kite" and it took it a bit literally...

maybe D caught it for a child before it flew off and the kid died of fright so D just stands there...like..."......................"
ooooooor he named the kite after that lady who's soul is bound to it and he felt like spending some time with her (like she was a person he was drawn to or just can't keep away from human souls)
ooor...he's just DARING and wants to see y humans find it so amusing. U shoulda drawn him skipping. Frolic through the meadows grim.
But rly this is spectacular. Amazing piece of art here. when I get some money I might buy myself a print.

I view it as Death was having a slow day and spied some children flying kites in a park. So he decided to try and God/Gaia is watching him in slight pleasant surprise.
Awesome work.

Most impressive, I love the colour balance and the mood of the artwork. No matter if you do know yourself whats up actually in the picture, it leaves so much room for interpretation and those are the best artworks Love it.
