found this guy alone on the beach.the mother seal must head to sea to feed so she leaves the youngster to hang out. people coming across a seal pup often believe it is abandoned and want to rescue it not knowing the mother will be back.

The only advice I have to give is using a tripod, if you weren't already
It looks like there's a little bit of motion blur on this shot... that's probably because your shutter speed (1/100) was well below your focal length (roughly 315).
To reduce motion blur, a good rule of thumb is not to let the SS go below the FL

He is adorable! I have never seen one up close before. When I lived near the ocean I would see them far away on rocks out in the bay.
