Do all females have to have more plantigrade legs compared to males, or is that just posture here?

Asoraam-Feire In reply to peachyyshibe [2019-10-27 11:19:31 +0000 UTC]

From the looks of it, it's just the posture. You can kinda see where the ankles straightened out.

Do Modern Vernids, or Vernids in general, have reproductive organs? And if not how do they have young?

Two things:
First, reading through the comments, and noting the creator's own description of "tribal" vernids, it would probably be more scientifically accurate to refer to them as archaic vernids--which would be more in line with rl anthropology terminology which refers to early humans as archaic humans (for example, h.heilderbergensis--I think I got the spelling right--is an archaic human).
Second, size-wise, how do modern vernids compare to humans? Are they huge like their feral cousins, or more human-sized?

EtsuDoggo [2019-06-18 18:58:55 +0000 UTC]

Can the modern Vernids have more unnatural colors? I know that Ferals can't.

Yes they can since modern Vernids dye their fur.

All cool and dandy, happy the girls don't need tiddies as well!! but I stumbled on this and took a closer look when I read "Tribal". Then that together the masks, markings with paint, use of feathers and bones, and positions such as Shaman, makes this deplorable. I don't blame you, but think,,, we have viewed native and people coming from tribes as "less modern", and this does so simultaneously as it calls them equivalent to Neanderthals (pre-human, correct? This is shown as an evolutionary line). Tribal people exist alongside and suffer violence from "modern" countries. Please reconsider the impact of calling a mid-animal, mid-humanoid species "tribal", please, now more than ever.Β

For background, Europeans made categories in which to place the level of intelligence and complexity of societies, from their point of view and development, placing themselves on top. A lot of our prejudices (racism) comes from the views this system created. My memory is a bit vague on specifics but hopefully you can reflect on this well enough.Β

As much as I agree somewhat with your point, I don't think this is really much of an issue - it's a fantasy species, if she wants to compare tribal Vernids to Neanderthals, then she is within her right to do so as she is creating the culture and details of the species. She didn't make the connection that tribes here are like this, simply that this particular group could be comparable to Neanderthals.

I also know that tribes nowadays, especially in New Zealand from my own experience, contain many intellectual people and are part of a functioning society, are in no way "monkeys" as I've heard others say, and it has its own extremes - but, since it has nothing to do with the reference for LilaiRa's Vernids, it doesn't matter here.

Don't want to start an argument, just stating that it might not be as big of an issue as you make it seem!

You need not to reply for the creator, but alright. Here's the problem. The word "Tribal" equaling, or being associated with a "neanderthal" is offensive. Along with the use of tribal imagery (paint, bones, jewelry). The problem is in the WORD tribal, and the sentiment that these "tribal" references are somehow less modern.

Fiction affects reality and reality affects fiction, you cannot separate what you draw inspiration from... And actually, I can barely fathom the issue, as I am only passing word from people belonging to tribes themselves.

I agree with jmcallaway 's point to calling them "archaic" instead. (Along with investigating the references/presentation for these kinds of vernid).

Since Neanderthals weren't actually much less intelligent than modern humans (if at all), would tribal Vernids be able to cope in a "civilized" society, intelligence-wise, if they were introduced into one?

Hello there! I have no Idea where to ask, so I'll ask here. My fursona Is a shapeshifter, so I was wondering If they'd be able to shapeshift Into a Feral Vernid and back Into a Modern Vernid?

ik feral vernids cannot have any type of piercings, but can modern vernids have piercings since they are more "modernized"? im asking this since i was unsure if modern vernids could even have piercings

Modern vernids can have piercings and clothing/accessories. It depends on the world they are in.
