On tumblrI hate to be the one to always moan bout good ol times, but seriously... In AC, hidden blade was wow supercool assassin prestige woah! And then came Ezio with his gadgets... Especially the crossbow. There was no point in even getting close to the target when you could just quickly kill them with one bolt, loot 'em and get two or so in return. And then Connor with his default tomahawk... I didn't even pull out the hidden blade during the whole game. Maybe when it was required for full sync. Maybe.
And then Haytham... I don't have a problem with that, ya know. Especially when I finally got to read Forsaken and it makes a whole lot sense. But yeah, the blade was strictly an Assassin thing for me, their signature... and now it's gone.
Okay, I don't really have time to type right now, I got a friend breathing down my neck. She's watching me right now. Technically it's my bday party so I really should go.

Β But yeah, I have to agree. It was disappointing to watch as the infamous assassin's main tool fell to the hands of the Templars and eventually just out of use. AC1, despite the talk of how repetitious it was, is my favourite in the series because of the plot and the characters just being so rich. I feel like, as the blades were slowly pulled out of the loop, so was the whole need for a "Creed" too. Β

Might be. The real joke here - for me, at least - is two oblivious Assassins who could be blamed for the same thing as well. I had Altair put the blame on Haytham even tough myself, I don't think about it that way.
All Haytham does only really starts making sense once one've read the book. I did, no sooner that I've come up with the idea for this comic though.

I remember when I just realized there are books of AC and since I hadn't read the books when I first started playing AC3 I thought Haytham was an assassin. .__.
But well, it was the first game I played...

I fell for that trick, too! And I had no idea he was Connor's father, though I had my expectations. Ya know, I avoided all info of ACIII so all I knew was the name and design of Connor, and I was wondering when the hell he was gonna appear. But seriously, he had it all - the blade, the insignia (during the brotherhood tutorial), knowledge of Piece of Eden. And he was good, even! What the hell ;___;
I didn't read the book until much later, and if I had a choice, I'd have kept it this way. It was enlightening, but a little spoiler-ish, too.

Same here. Just as I said, I started with ACIII and was very confused when I had to play Haytham and not Connor because I knew that Connor was the main character, especially because it wasn't mentioned that Haytham is Connor's father (or was it and I missed it?).
And I think it's better to read the books afterwards because they tell pretty much. I still have the books for ACI and ACII here (don't know what their English names exactly are since I have them in German) and I won't read the ACII book because I'm still playing that game. Also I think it's more fun to find put more when you already played the game so it feels like you would play it again.

Well, I don't have a very high opinion of those books. I read AC the secret crusade and it was awfully written and pretty much boring. Still, I heard the books featuring Ezio are as if somebody was writing according to a game script. This is why getting round to reading Forsaken took me so long.... but damn, it was actually good! In terms of keeping my interest.
Haha, I actually felt like rewatching some cutscenes (which I did) while reading Forsaken.

But I'll read it anyway, even if it's awful~
Forsaken was really good, in my opinion, just the parts between Haytham being a child in England und doing his business as Templar in America were kinda boring. (Except for that one where he kills this assassin and gets the hidden blade, what explained pretty much.)
And at the begining, when he was talking to Charles just as he arrived in the colonies, I checked the cutscenes since what they said sounded very familiar. Don't know how it's in the English version but in the German the words written in the book are exactly which are said in the cutscenes. At this point I've been VERY impressed because I think that makes the perfect connection to the game and isn't like "Huh, when did that happen in the game?". ^_^

I agree, but also don't. I didn't use my hidden blade much since Brotherhood. But at the same time, that's not actually a bad thing. It's still there if you wanna use it. But I like to have much variety in games, for different approaches. An true assassin SHOULD master any weapon. According to me

I refused to use the hidden blades as Haythem cause he's a Templar~ XD But I use the Hidden blades as everyone else~ owo Its one of my Favorite weapons to use cause I'm awesome at it~ owo

Same here, but I tried to use the hidden blade as much as possible because it somehow is the thing that made an assassin an assassin...

Exactly! Running around and stabbing everyone with a toothpick is like the pinnacle of the Assassin ways. XD Not to mention it's just too much fun to defeat a heavy-armoured guard with hella big weapon with a short stick.

Nope because i didn't say in my comment on anyone using eagle vision being dumb i just said i doubt anyone uses it because in the game the map usually tells you where to go

I love eagle vision :3 it helps me find animals too but sometimes I wonder where the skins go o.O

Yup. But the joke is also: in AC, your best n coolest weapon was the hidden blade. Then came Ezio with his hidden gun (and later crossbow) which was even more powerful than the blade and became his "supercool weapon". And then we have Connor... who doesn't even use the blade as much (in the trailers etc., coz the game you play as you will). It comes to the point where Assassin weapon no. 1 is worn by a Templar. (to those who read forsaken it makes sense but I didn't know that playing the game)
So yeah, the comic focuses on Haytham mostly, but it's what happens in the meantime that is personally more important for me. Like, Altair could mean both Ezio and Connor, but he doesn't say. I do and I say where's the good ol' times when Assassins were cool, hidden blage-wielding guys with a code AND sacrifice to help them remember who they are. And later we have no sacrifice, much cooler weapons and it's straying futher and further away from the original Creed.

yeah I now what you mean. I played all games exept for black flag (f##king pirate ships >>) and I preffer the first game the most. and in the other games there may be good alternatives to the blade, but the blade will always be my most used weapon
