Oh no... I wonder what happened? D:Why is Goth angry? Clearly it has to do something with Melody. I have no actual story behind what's happening, so go ahead and tell me what you think is happening here?

Well, they are from my fanfic "Gone Batty" and "Gone Batty II: Eclipsed." Melody is my own original character.
The fanfic follows the events of the tv cartoon "Silverwing" which is based of the children's book trilogy by Kenneth Oppel. Goth is the primary villain of that series.

you know I came up with a little AU where Melody is actually the Daughter (technically the reincarnation of her) of Zotz and born as the same species as Goth. Now in this AU Zotz creates Goth's previous incarnation as a mate for Melody because he is a protective daddy that thinks no one is good enough for his baby girl, so he creates a male for her. Also there was no war between Zotz and Nocturna in this AU, they just seperate because Zotz's followers are better in tropical climates while Nocturna's do better in temperate climates. Basically Phoenix get jealous of Melody and kills her and "Aktun" aka Goth, and has to go into hiding because Zotz wants her head on a spike. In grief Zotz asks Nocturna to bring Melody back to life which Nocturna does via reincarnation but is killed by Phoenix before she could tell Zotz where Melody's soul went.
Fast forward years later were Melody is on a field trip to the jungle, where she finds a weird looking amulet with a gem that looks like a ruby and sapphire mixed together in the center of it inside of a temple. She discovers that she is the only one who can even see it and puts it on. During the night the class gets attacked by thieves, the magic in the amulet activates turning Melody into one of the predatory bats and also alerts Zotz and his demon bats that Melody is in the jungle again unfortunately Phoenix saw Melody transform but is unable to approach her due to the magic Nocturna put into the amulet.
Melody is then found by Itzel and Throbb and brought back to the colony, where all the single males (including Goth) are smitten with her and begin to fight for her favor without Melody even knowing they're fighting to win her love.
I'll let your imagination take it from here.

Wow!! Hahaha! That'd be one heck of an AU! That sounds like a super fun story. XD only I'd question Phoenix's motives a bit here since she's super loyal to Zotz. Unless she desires Zotz's favor and can't get that as long as he dotes on Seraphina that is. She is a gold digger and very proud after all. But that's a super fun idea.

would Karma be a better choice for the role of murder then? I really only picked Phoenix because she is is really the only one I can see actually capable of killing Nocturna (and the she killed Melody in a past life in your cannon version). Also if that is the case I can totally see Phoenix taking on a "big sister/bodyguard" role for Melody as a way for Zotz to make sure she is safe this time around.

Nah, I named her Karma for a reason. She's not nice by any means but she won't go around murdering someone who hasn't wronged her, despite being a demon. She's more of a 'live and let live' type of character unless ordered to be otherwise.
I can't see Phoenix being genuinely friendly with Sera no matter what AU they live in. She is very vain and proud. She is also a gold digger and always trying to climb to the top of the mountain. I can see her PRETENDING to be nice to Sera because Zotz is her daddy... but only in the manner that an evil Step-mother would be. This is a tricky AU you've given me. xD
WAIT-... wait... what if Phoenix was meant to be Zotz's successor before Sera was born.... kinda like the Lion King thing.

true, but talking about this AU now makes me imagine Goth being nice to Melody while she is in the room but when she leaves he turns to all the other males planning on following her and screams "SHE IS MINE!" as angrily as he can. xD

I literally just thought of something that is a big plot hole for my "Daughter of Zotz AU" (yes that is what I'm calling it). If Zotz is the god of the dead and all, and Seraphina was killed. Wouldn't he still be able to communicate/spend time with her? Would he really need to revive her or would he still try to revive her so she could enjoy life again?
Also quick question how long ago were Zotz's and Nocturna's kids killed? Seriously everyone says it was a long time ago, but that is going by bat years in human years how long ago did all that stuff between Zotz and Nocturna/the murder of their kids go down? I know that it had to be a minim of 18 years because that is how old Melody is in the first fanfic "Gone Batty", but has it been longer then that?

1. Yeah, he totally could still spend time with her, but Seraphina is a free spirit. She would ask him to let her to live once again. She's kinda like Ariel from The Little Mermaid in a way. She wants to explore and try new things. In my story, Seraphina always admired humans. So if she would ask, Zotz probably wouldn't deny her.
2. A VERY long time ago. This takes place around the time before the Europeans discovered the ancient Mayans. Back before the first white settlers even arrived in the Americas. It's that long ago.

I love the way Goth and Melody are drawn in this picture, and I love the deep purple look of the image with the dark colours!!!!
You've drawn Goth's face beautifully, I love the expression on his face!!! Similarly, I love the spindly fingers and knuckles of Goth's hand you've drawn. Melody's large eye is quite Disney-evocative. I also love how humanoid Goth and Melody's bodies look. Melody's body especially looks human-shaped but draped in a clock with her back turned to the camera.
I wonder what indeed could be happening in this picture. When I first saw it, I automatically thought Goth's expression was one of concern with firmness rather than of anger, like maybe he's warning Melody of or against something.

Yeah, I like to give them a bit more human shape to their bodies because I feel like there should be a bit more physical difference between males and females in the cartoon. It's easy to mistake one for the other if not for the eyelashes.

To me it seems like maybe Melody found herself in danger and Goth saved her from that situation so he's in a mood similar to a sibling/parent/husband feels when someone close to them does something reckless.

Honestly, I'm really struggling to write the next chapter. I haven't written in a while so I'm trying to reorganize by re-reading things and taking notes (even I forget where I am in the grand scheme of things). I am hoping to get a chapter up this month.

I can image, that Melody encountered some captives/sacrifices and managed/tried to free them.
Goth, while angry at her, does understand, how Melody must have feelt about seeing them, and knowing, what is going to happen. Yet he has to scold her, telling that they won't just toss all the Vampyrums culture and traditions over board, just because it upsets Melody.

Yeah the jungle's dangerous enough as it is. That dark place is just screaming "Stranger Danger." Although right now I don't know which is scarier. The foreboding background or the very angry meat eating bat in front of it.
