You should. References or no if I and many on here tried to show this range of foot articulation more than half of them would probably be mistaken by the casual viewing passerby as some kind of poorly drawn hands. These I knew exactly what they were and exactly what they were doing as a small thumb. I will say that even though it is a possible pose for people to make that number 11 (or maybe 10½ is its linked to the one that shares space with it just above) on the bottom row looks a little uncomfortable. Maybe even painful. 

The middle one stepping forward (4) with the underside exposed seems the most real looking to me and since it has action and a bit of perspective is my favorite. Though the one that copies the commercial with the one foot scratching the other is cute too.
