The sword biting chubby cheeked wonder just fills me with happy mirth, simplified drawing style reminds me of many similar "reactions" in anime, I Approve! LOL

Rin in the bottom center is just darling. Those blush lines keep making me think of freckles which is also... still going with darling!

Hmmm... upper right Rin has a strong somewhat square chin and jaw line which makes her head seem older than the rest of her body. While I sometimes compare your facial expressions to Disney ones, your strong jaws and ears also show a certain heritage from shows in the style of Warner Brother's Iron Giant (which I am further told had its CG design inspired by the works of Norman Rockwell, Edward Hopper and N.C. Wyeth ) Kind of undecided on this. I don't think its "wrong" per say... might be more of a style thing... might just be me getting that impression and if this your style was animated maybe I wouldn't get that impression. I am trying not to succumb to all the anime I have seen but even after second and third looks I feel the lines of her jaw make her look older. Its probably the "L" shape where her jaw changes direction towards her ear that is the most disconcerting to my idea of her age. In the anime, in a side view, there would be no strong angle (or any for that matter) in the line from her chin to her ear [link] (hard to find a perfect side view sorry ^_^') most of this feature being left to suggest from shading or front views. Well, pretty soon I will just start going around in logic circles but this is the best I can do to explain what my subconscious picked up on. I understand your style is different from anime etc... but that was the only place I could find examples from. While I was searching I noticed a lot of artists and animators covered this feature up with hair on young girls so maybe this is a common issue for artists attempting to draw a complete jawline in side view for a child. (or again maybe its just me. *shrugs*)

While I realize your slightly more realistic anime style will naturally change Inuyasha's look (thinner/smaller head smaller eyes etc..) the most profound and character altering change you have made is that you draw his ears pointier and pointing straight up as opposed to his usual style of ear being just slightly rounded and points gently curving off to the side in a more relaxed look. I feel this changes his "feel" considerably.

Sorry if that seem not so "positive" (you sure you want more of my "positive" comments? LOL) when I see something done right there is no incentive to explore it other than to say "good job!" cause you got that down obviously. When I see something that doesn't match up with some ideal in my twisted soul it is easier to cough up tons of verbiage which makes it seem like a mostly negative post even though I enjoyed the post immensely. There isn't too much I can do about that except be less helpful. Just know I do enjoy your art and I only go on about this stuff cause I think it helps. ^_^'

Bah, my Inuyasha art will never be perfect But it's what I've got. Oh, but I've been trying to come up with ways to draw kids of late and it's been tough. I'll avoid the sharper jawline because I see what your saying. They never seem to look childish enough.

It does help!

Yeah most folk just make the top of the head bigger and rounder, the eyes bigger proportionally to adults in the same style and then shrink the nose, mouth, chin area's vertical length up closer to the eyeline while rounding and softening all lines associated with the nose, mouth, chin/jawline features. How much you do that depends on the style...

Some anime styles eliminate some of those features all together (like da nose). And then they started doing this to older and older characters when they realized how much easier (faster and cheaper) is was to draw and animate so now lots of folks complain of everyone on many animes looking like children and their romance like some kind of sicko thing!! Extremely old characters now look like older teens used to except maybe they have very tiny crowsfeet at the corners of their eyes!!! Just getting silly out there overseas...
