Oooh no! I just realized this image goes past the borders of the shirt and uses three "sides"! I hope the judges are willing to work with people on issues like that. I really had hoped this one would win... well, you know, if I didn't win I wanted it to win... something like that. heh
Unless you get in on votes...then I guess we wouldn't be competing since my only hope is the third prize the judges pick.
Did you paint this right on the shirt? I didn't have the guts for that. I made mine huge and then shrunk it down hoping to make the lines look smoother before I pasted it on. It sort of worked.
I should probably stop cluttering up your page but I come back occasionally to look at it since its so well done and I just noticed that.

Ha ha, thanks for the complement, I did draw it right on the shirt, and I knew I wasn't going to win so I went ahead and broke the rule with the two sides only rule... I like my critter, and I'm glad you like it too, but I was aware that I was in way over my head from the beginning.

Well most monsters do have elements of some animal as a base with other animals lumped on? This one is very cat like at its heart with some three eyed rodent thrown in. But it has been "monsterfied" to a much greater degree than many of the (literally) thousands of kitty like monsters here. His actions are very cat like as well...
But after blasting my way all the way back here this is one of the few pieces of art to catch my eye (granted I had to skip past thousands lest I be doing this nonstop for days!) kitty or no I love his style and probably am a sucker for fireflies being country folk. You shall have the second of my votes to be given out (maybe the last at this rate...)
And no I don't expect you to vote for mine. We would just cancel each other out! lol My only hope is the new third prize that the judges decide from all entries without taking votes into consideration. I don't (and probably never will) have enough presence here to win popularity contests XD
Good luck anyway! To heck with T-shirts with this you should make plushies! (with little velcro LED lighting bugs that the children can stick on him and depending on where they stick they flash differently)

That would be so cute! Plushies... we'll see I really wanted to do fireflys! I love them, even though I have only actually come across them once in my entire life. We don't have them where I live. One of the VERY few types of bugs that don't frighten me in the least.
Yeah, he is kinda kitty-like, it wasn't intentional.

Nothing wrong with kitty like at all. Kitties are considered to be the epitomy of cute in many societies right now so when ones brain tries to come up with images to communicate cute to today's audience it was bound to have a bit o' kit in it! But you added a lot to that basic form and I think those who have really looked at it appreciate it.
Well we have tons and small children love them. Boys and girls alike love smashing them to use the chemicals to make impromptu "Glow in the Dark" art. Girls especially seem to forget the stereotypes of not liking bugs (let alone bug guts) to use them for glowing Celtic make up! XD
I like to wait until clear night at the hieght of their season and go out to the very dark back field. It looks like a field of stars and galaxies above and a similar field of "Odd" yellow stars blinking and dancing below. The only thing that even came close to being as cool on my property was the hordes of migrating Monark Butterflys. Sadly a state(or two)wide pesticide "whoopsie" in my youth reduced their numbers to the point that most of the ones with the genetic memory to migrate through our field have died off. I miss going into the pine trees that had turned orange and black with Monarks clinging to the needles to see them suddenly explode all around you... TT

Oh my god... I can only imagine That would be so cool. That sucks, pesticide screws up lots of stuff, it would seem. But I can only imagine how awesome that would be. We don't have Monark Butterflys here. We have moths and really boring small butterflys, except for the (very) ocasional Tiger Swallowtail.
I've always loved butterflies.
I didn't think their guts would glow after one smooshed one! If I'd known better I'd have drawn some epic warpaint on my cheeks! Of course I was in 8th grade at the time, so I don't think I would have had the guts to actually do it. Hey! But I'd do it now!

Sometimes the more boring moths have cool catepillars. Like the white fuzzy ones with the round crimson fur tufts sticking up farther than the rest of their fur. Or the orange one with white and black bullseyes down his side thats the size of a mans finger.
Oh yes a fun childhood memory is little girls with glowing warpaint trying to capture more fireflys under a tree with the disembodied heads of barbies hanging by the hair from the branches at twilight. I wish I had a camera for all the moments like that. I would collect them in an album titled, "Another Facet of Little Girls" XD. I try to detach myself from any dolls I buy for my niece or whoever. Otherwise it is just to sad what happens to the poor dears. XD

This is defenitly one of my absolute favourites!
Different to other artworks this looks like a real monster and not like a cat, dog or octopus. Very creative! And it has got its really own charme. I would wear this!

Thanks so much! I lost faith in it after the big guns got their submissions. I've noticed a lack of originality in a lot of the other entries, thank you so much! So you don't know how encouraging this is to get!

Baah, you think MINE is good, wait 'til the big guns get cracking on their own entries... that'll be a sad day for the rest of us I can assure you.
But other than that, THANK YOU! I appreciate the complement
