Description
Qipadriph's hut interior. Since it is a below ground dwelling, it doesn't really make sense to try to draw it from the outside. You'll notice that there is a dramatic decrease in the image quality of late, because I no longer have access to my editing software. Its been a struggle... its okay though. I'll live. But it hasn't helped with my activity here, which I am sorry about.

I think once its below ground its no longer a hut? So how below ground we talking here cause that looks like an boarded up window? Guess I could have used the outside shot. lol
Like the lantern hanging above the table. You know what would be economical? Hanging it from a track/pole/whatever on the ceiling and then you could just move the one light with you across the place.
Is that a bathtub next to the fireplace? Can't tell, looks round and like a giant wooden barrel with slats though. If he has easy access to water that could be a really cool dugout or whatever it is.
Computer still messed up?

(The computer is eternally messed up until I take the time to buy a new one and get all the stuff on this one onto that one.)
Well, Qip's "hut" is literally 2 huts that were buried in ash from a volcanic eruption hundreds of miles to the north (and a hundred years ago). He discovered the first hut during a wind storm that unburied it partially. The storm lasted almost a week and he was trapped in the desert so he stayed there out of necessity. During that time he used the things inside the ancient little dwelling to survive, though still needed water. He ended up discovering a pump house type structure (though really old) and a well beneath it as well as several other structures revealed by the horrible wind. When the storm ended he made note of its location, then found that only a day's ride to the north west there was a town. He ended up going back to the hut and claiming it as his new home. There are a lot of reasons why he did that, but I'm not going into them atm. There so happened to be a second hut next to his first, so he dug a tunnel over to it and created a hallway between them. Over the years he converted the second hut into storage, medicine, and wash rooms, the washroom containing the 2nd "furnace".
So in summery, Qip converted 2 buried huts into 1 underground dwelling and unburied the pump house just enough to have easy access to the ancient well. He still has to carry water back and forth, from pump house to residence, but it makes the private dwelling sensible enough to excuse his choice in living place.

Those are some sturdy ass structures for "huts". Them dudes built to last. Even just getting lots of snow on your roof required special roofs back in the day let alone a tone of soil.
Also lucky the pump houses well was not buried by ash flowing in as is its want in places like Pompeii... I mean he could just tunnel it out and then add supports to all of the above via mining but other than conservation of materials one wonders why he didn't just mine a new home in the first place? I actually see no real problem with this action I just like to ask obvious questions that "fans" often ask in these situations as I think they are good things to keep in mind as an author. Also I love playing devils advocate. (as a Christian should I be worried about that? LOL )

More 1 room house than a hut, I guess then. But then again, you make an excellent point........... (I need to go back to the drawing board...)
Naturally, you can expect that Qipadirph did maintenance on everything before settling down there officially. Its not like everything was in perfect condition, he just liked that there was already stuff there and he liked how isolated it was. Assume that he reinforced the roof of each place as well as dug out any invading soot.

With a little work he'd have the most fertile gardens ever. Volcanic ash laden soil being famous for that. Heck, local farmers (local to volcanoes) even find great uses for lava rock itself, ground or otherwise. A hundred years later huh? That would be about right for that whole affected area to be super fertile and lush if it gets enough rain!
