Description
This is not your redemption, but forgiveness.I drew this for my first-even livestream, which was a lot of fun, actually, and not as nervewracking as I thought it was going to be. You know how I am about themes of forgiveness, saintly women and men prostrate with shame. I would definitely not forgive Hans if I were Elsa, but I think she would be a better person than me. That's why she's the queen.

Powerful piece and message! Beautiful work.
I like the sainthood angle. If this had happened in the movie, well it would have been groundbreaking to say the least.

I'm imagining a follow up to this moment being a lifetime of Hans humbly trying to make right his actions. Always with Elsa acting as his moral compass. Rather than exile or punishment, it would be so lovely to see him take it upon himself to become worthy of forgiveness. But then, I really really disliked that Hans had to just be evils. It just occurred to me that he could have done a lot of the same actions for different motives and the movie would have worked better. If he had lied to Anna to protect her while planning to kill Elsa to protect the land, and regretted having to do it? Good Lord, that is a yummy deep character right there. But, you know I love the heroic black knights, right?
This picture is beautiful, it just gets my brain a buzzin.

Gorgeous and poignant image composition, and a suspended moment of grace.

You don't forgive someone for their benefit, but for your own. She doesn't need to carry that shit around.

I would forgive him...after I slapped him upside the head lol
I say that I would forgive him not for his sake but my own...or in this case Elsa's...she has the whole kingdom and her powers to worry about and doesn't need the added negativity that anger would cause weighting her down.

Well, Anna did get in a good solid right hook. I'd be shocked if she didn't break his nose. And yes, I agree: when you forgive someone, you make yourself lighter and better.

I'm not really hugely into Frozen (I saw it, I thought it was a decent movie), but I AM way into costume design, and I think I like this dress for Elsa a LOT better than her actual movie dress. It was quite good, but I super don't get the armpit cape thing. I love this, though- it still captures the same feel, but seems a little more... I dunno, something! Regal, maybe?

Frozen was, let's be honest, not an A+ movie. I couldn't tell you why it resonated with me so much, or kick-started me after a long art drought. But yeah, I wasn't crazy about Elsa's ice dress, either! It just looked so cold, which I know was sort of the point, but. You know what I'm saying.

Ha, well, I'm glad it did that for you! In any case, I don't think it was nearly as bad as many people hoped it would be; there were a lot of things I liked about it (although of course there are a lot of things I wish they'd done instead, but overall it certainly wasn't awful, which a lot of people apparently expected it to be before it came out).
But yeah, I know what you mean! I sort of get where they were going with it, it just sort of ended up... Awkward? Not quite there. I just really like what you did, where it has those sheer parts. It still gets the "she isn't cold even though it's freezing" without being quite so strange. It's also kind of like, you know when it's snowing and you can sort of see but everything is a little hazy? It's kind of like that, and I really like it!

My mom always told me that it always better to forgive those who caused us so much pain in the past.
I was bullied when i was a little girl for almost 5 years in elementary... It still hurts me.. Im no longer bullied but i still have sad memories of those times... Why is it so hard to forgive? Why???
I just dont understand why i cant forgive those who treated me like garbage... :"""""""""""(
I do want to forgive but i just cant...

For what it's worth, I knew jerks like that in Elementary too. Β They did not come after me, but a few other girls I knew. My friends and I did what we could get away with to fend off the bullying on them. I not being one to let by gone's be gone's, I kept up with these bullying jerks as the years went by. I wanted to see how life worked out for them, not one of them ever went beyond High School level education. In fact, they all becameΒ quintessential white trash. Two of them died in their early twenties to drug overdoses. The third one is in such a pathetic state, that I was satisfied that their evil acts in childhood as been "evened" out.Β
The girls that were bullied? They all lead very happy lives. A couple of which I sort of envy their success. They've earned it though.Β
The act of forgiving is indeed a tough subject. I just thought my little history would help in the on going struggle of letting go of past hurts.Β
I heard it once said, "the ultimate act of revenge is to live well."Β
Be of goodΒ courage sister.Β

Thats sad that two of them died... Hope thier souls will see the light.
And that quote that you saud is nice :3, my mom also once told me a quote like that too, but its kinda different, its goes like this: "the ultimate revenge against bad people, is enjoying your life happily, because mabey they dont live thier lifes with happiness"

Oh honey, I'm so sorry that happened to you. You don't have to forgive anyone unless you're ready to -- it's not for them, it's for you. Forgiveness means unburdening yourself, filling the hurt places with love instead.
The Dalai Lama says that we should wish for good things to happen to those who wrong us. You have to figure, if someone is cruel and mean, there's a very good chance they were treated cruelly by someone else. Something is wrong in their life. If good things happen to them, they'll become happier, better people. That doesn't make it okay that they hurt you or anyone else, but it'll give them the chance to do something good.

And it kinda makes sence that bad people mustve got bad pasts... Just like megamind and gru from despicable me they both became bad guys because never having the love of a parent, always being lonely, and having no friends, but im glad that both of them are now living a happy life :3

Wow, wow, WOW. I totally pictured the second encounter between Hans and Elsa to be like this, I believe she could have the ability to turn him into a better person, if he's willing to let her and beg for her forgiveness of course. It really does take a saint to forgive someone who's al full of rage and hatred. Again you never cease to amaze me
This dress design is gorgeous, I kid you not i would totally wear something like that to a special event. The sleeves are my favorite along with the veil and halo. Love how you gave them to both sisters. I've notice that you have a liking to having characters drawn with closed or half closed eyes.

See, I know that in the real world, psychopaths don't get redeemed. It's just part of what it is to be a psychopath: they don't feel remorse or empathy. But in this world, in this Disney world where girls have magical ice powers and trolls can rearrange someone's memories and love can literally thaw a frozen heart? I think there's a chance. And I would love to see that happen.
And I do, I've been self-conscious about it in the past, how often I draw people with their eyes closed. But that's just the feeling I like to convey, you know? Of peace or sadness or contentment.

LMAO! Yep only in a Disney tale will there ever be a chance of literally anyone changing for the better and the good guys obviously give them a second chance. Since this film has gotten really popular in just a short amount of time, I think even more publicity than Tangled itself, then there may be a chance of a sequel. I think it deserves one because there are a few things that they left out from the plot of the story but also because there could be so many adventures to be shown between Anna and Elsa now that they're talking to each other again after so many years. Like Elsa giving advice to Anna about becoming a queen along with the growth between her and Kristoff's relationship, maybe even bring in Rapunzel and Flynn since they made a cameo in the film and heard rumors that she's cousins with the Arendelle sisters.
I really hope that they decide to bring back Hans and show him in a new light and be able to see the relationship between him and his twelve brothers. I personally think that if Disney was able to start showing that not every story should end with a man and a woman hooking up then they should really decide on one day creating a story line that deals with the main villain trying to become a better person out of sincerity instead of trickery and goes through many emotional struggles and temptations in order to test their morals and prove his/her redemption. It'd not only be something different but could show others that some wicked people, SOME not all, could have a change of heart and willingly change for the better if they wanted to.
Oh I didn't mean it in a critical way! In fact I've always loved the closed/half-closed eyes from your pieces. It really does give them a relaxed aura and is the signature look to your style of art.
