Ben Cumberbatch in a peacoat. Who doesn't look sort of regal in a peacoat? Have we had this discussion before?The halo isn't really significant, just that I tend to want to throw a halo on everyone I ever draw. It looks appropriate, and he seems like such a nice fellow, so. I regret nothin'.
It's rare that I have an image I want to put down and then just sit and do it exactly. It always feels like such an accomplishment. This is one of those, and it's something I've wanted to draw for years, not necessarily Cumberbatch, but somebody standing that way. Finally it's done, and I don't have to think about it anymore.

Wonderful! I've had very similar urgings to draw a peacoat-clad somebody in this pose. I think your drawing this kinda took that urging away from me, for which I'm actually glad x'D I need to feel like drawing less things and then I'll get on with drawing more things!!
You capture his likeness so perfectly and so simply. I'm in awe. I don't think I can do that xD AND HIS HAIR, HIS BEAUTIFUL LOCKS.
I have a coat like that, but most of the buttons fell off after a few wears and I don't know how to sew them back on xDD

And are you kidding me? You are like, the MASTER of perfectly executing someone's look without unnecessary sketchery. You always do such gorgeous, simple, perfect stuff. Do you know how often I would just sit and stare at the Dean and Jeff in his dalmation suit, thinking, "Goddamn, why can't I do NOSES like that"?

Hello darlin'! So sorry I haven't been getting back to you quickly. Life got pretty crazy all of a sudden. We lost a manager at work, so we've all had to pick up the slack, then I got sick for two entire months (I've been feeling a lot better after seeing the doctor), and my husband's 30th birthday and my mother 60th birthday are just a week apart, so I've been trying to plan grand things for them. I know I should be finishing up commissions, too! Rargh, I promise to get to all the things on my To Do list soon.
Ooh, I didn't know Cumberbatch could do Alan Rickman's voice, but I believe it! He has a pretty spectacular voice, I have to say. Imagining he and Rickman each taking turns reading pages of poetry aloud makes my knees go weak...

I gotta say, I loves me a nice peacoat. I have one, but being in Florida there isn't much cause to use it alas. I do like the way you have the coat itself without any defining lines. When used well, it's a very neat effect.
