Great tutorial ^^ I also do mine this way but since i never took pictures i don't have them on dA...
Your tutorial is good...simple and small...but of course there isn't much to say about this "technique"

Thank you! I'm sure I will do more complex tutorials soon but I needed to start with something easy. It still took a while to put together. Do you make poly clay tutorials? I would like to see them, can you send a link?

I don't really do tutorials like yours...mine are more of a "sharing-the-experience" type because there are too many tutorials on many sibjects out there i just like to report my difficulty on something and the solution i found...
I have done two...one far more detailed than the other..and i'm planning on making 2 more about how i bake my beads and all the ways i've learned so far on how to make hard clay soft again...

I was actually asked to do a tutorial on my bonsais a few weeks ago but i'll do that only after i finish my current one

So here they are:

Very cool! Did you buy the molds or make them? I have been thinking about trying to make molds out of silicone caulk which is inexpensive and easy to find. I really want to make my own dishes but have had a really hard time with it. I thought a mold might be the key to making nice dishes.
Thanks for sharing!

This ones i bought them but i use them only as guide lines...
I've seen some tutorials for making plates
Check this ones:

[link]

also here is a bowl tutorial [link]
I tried this one with the marble and it only takes pacience and calm to do it...otherwise it will be not very good

I think I need to try the marble technique again. I got so mad the last time I tried! Lol! I also have a problem with things getting into light colored clay and making it look dirty. it really shows when i try to make white plates, but I think many people paint the plates and bowls after they are finished. Thanks for sharing these links.

the best tip id washing your hands and work the clay the least possible...yes...paiting is a nice option specially if you intend on glazing the plate afterwards...

I'm working on the plate with the washer...i just made a washer out of polymer clay with scrap clay and i'm still to try that technique
it seems promissing

I would think you use a metal washer so you can bake the plate in the washer and it wont stick. It will sag if you don't bake it in something or at least that has been my experience.

well...i think if you don't press too much the clay won't stick to my "clay washer"...and i've been using crap clay to bake my beads without them touching anything so i know you can bake and bake and bake scrap clay without any harm...
yes i really just want the washer to help keep the shape so...there shouldn't be any problem...

let me know if you find the clay washer method successful. Have you ever used thes gloves [link] they are really great for getting a glass like finish without sanding. They are different from normal latex gloves and can be reused many times.

i don't use gloves when crafting...i try very carefully to smoosh away almost all fingerprints on my creations...or at least the very visible ones...

Very nice! I always wondered how people got such nice cuts with a razor without squishing the clay, didn't even think to bake it to harden it up a little first. The almond slices look fantastic and delicious as well!

thanks! Yeah, I learned the hard way that some things need to be baked a little to make them easier to work with.

That's just how I do my almonds too! But I can't take credit for the idea, actually *Fushica showed me how to do it this way my almonds looked cartoony before her.

This is a great tutorial and I'm sure it will help a lot of people I'm trying to think of something I can tell you about it, but I really like it! Concise, great photos, very clear and helpful. If anything a couple of photos could use an slightly better focus, but I think maybe I'm pushing it too much because I want to say something that can help you for your next tutorial D:

Anyway... GREAT JOB!

You are my #1 most favorite polymer clay artist on DA and it means a lot to me that you took the time to look at my tutorial and to comment! I looked at many of your tutorials before trying to make this one because yours are always so well done. Thank you!

Talty In reply to lily-inabottle [2012-01-11 06:18:05 +0000 UTC]

OH WOW! Thank you so much You're too nice to me I don't even know what to say

Oh I just remembered what I can advice you. Sign the tutorial, somehow that leads back to you. Tutorials get stolen all the time and people make videos, collections, or direct posts. We can't really avoid it, but if you add a link back to your DA account or something, people that see the stolen tutorial can either let you know or discover you! Sad, but you can even get new followers that way.
