Rule N°1: We don't carve towards us! We carve away from us! If we want to save a stupid stir stick, we either carve like we are suppose to with the proper knife, or we use other proper tool to remove unwanted cured resin.You might assume there is more blood after I cut my thumb - again. I got so many scars on my thumbs and index fingers this past year, that homeland security might have to take new fingerprints from me..

Yeah, I think its comfort and control over the blade that makes me hold the knife like an idiot. Never did it again so far

Ooooooh I know your pain only too well! I did mine while carving a marionette. Sliced the whole side tip of my finger off. :s hope it heals up quick for you!

Oh goosh... I cut myself in the fingers all the time also xD It's so annoying, I'm so clumsy and it doesn't help to have wounds on the fingers when doing fiddly stuff xD Blade knifes are pretty dangerous

I hope you didn't damage your thumb too badly with that.
Once, I was carving with an x-acto knife, and right after telling my husband about how a friend has a numb thumb from nerve damage, the knife plunged into my own thumb! I have a little numb scar now, and I certainly learned my lesson.
