Description
I drew this in my Theatre History class. So sorry for the lined paper.Ya'll know the story of Oedipus? A royal couple is warned by an oracle that their young son, Oedipus, will grow up and slay his father so he can be with his mother. To prevent this they abandon him in the woods and consider the situation solved. However someone finds Oedipus in the woods and raises him themself. Later Oedipus grows up and ends up slaying his father, the King, and marries his mother (they have children together too). He and his mother are both unaware that they are related and when they find out, his mother commits suicide and Oedipus gauges his eyes out.
What an enchanting tale, huh? Betcha Disney would love how I used their characters to portray it.

Pretty neat, but how exactly can the lion king be like Oedipus Rex? Since Mufasa had a son, and I'm sure he didn't marry his mother. interesting concept though.

Lol. Oh yes... the Oedipus complex. We were talking about that in English class (Ever read "The Sailor Who Fell from the Sea" or "The Metamorphosis"? Those were very awkward examples). Poor Oedipus and his mom/wife. That would be so shocking to find out you were born from the same woman you had children with... 0.o

I've been lectured on the Oedipus complex before studying Hamlet in my English class. Little-known fact: The Lion King is based off of Hamlet in a sense; watch the movie and you'll see what I mean!

Oh yeah, I know about that one. I remember seeing an early interview when the movie first released where the directors were saying something about, "Bambi Meets Hamlet" as the plot to The Lion King.

Thank-you.
I appreciate the comment. I wondered if people were offended by it maybe, Simba and Mufasa in this tale of debauchery, heheh.
But I'm glad you liked it at least! Thanks again.
