It's both amusing and touching how compassionate dogs are. They always seem absolutely elated to be in our presence! I can't get over it. Regardless of how you treat them, they will still stare up at you with such adoration, like Toby (my folk's dog back home) is here.
It's sad when you see (on those depressing Humane Society shows) ones who are beaten and abused by humans, though much more cautious and timid, wills till wag their tales and lick the hands of the people handling them.

I've always wondered exactly when and why canines accepted the duty of "Man's Best Friend".
It's certainly a worthy title because while there are many different kinds of pets out there, not too many are as loyal and loving as the dog.
