Here we go; the very first of the Gamera kaiju that I attempted. And I started on her months ago. I don't remember what my motivation was. However, when it proved to be a tedious unmotivated work, I left it alone and forgot about it for a while. I recently rediscovered it, and then when I managed to finish it, I realized that I could actually make this year's Godzilla Month work.

So...ultimately, it's only obligatory that I'm naming it "Super Gyaos" since that is technically the Heisei version's name (at least the big one.) Perhaps if I decide to make more Gamera sprites, I'll call the Showa version "Gyaos."

I hope you guys enjoy. Personally, I really like what I did with the head; the v-crest came out great, and the face underneath it was best. The only problem I initially had was with the mouth; I feel like it's too obscured by the colors of the arm behind it.
I chose the sprites I did making her, because I always saw Gyaos as kind of sickly-thin, to the point where its rib-cage was clearly defined in its skin. It helps me buy the creatures' ravenous, insatiable appetite, because it seems that they're malnourished.
Truth be told...up until I made this sprite, I actually didn't know that Gyaos had a tail. Let's face it, it's hard to get a full-body shot of the creature in the movies it appears in. And when I did see the tail, it was so odd...almost like Titanosaurus' tail, only I'm not sure if it folds. But, I suppose it's supposed to serve as a rear stabilizer much like an airplane.

I find it ironic that so far, the two Gamera sprites I've made were both Female Monsters. I wonder if there are more Female Monsters in the Gamera series than the Godzilla series...Eh, probably not.
