Description
This is an AU, in which teenager Lily and Snape might have been friends based on their James-dislike.I imaged the note would say something like "If you have nothing good to say about James, come sit next to me." Only, you know, worded differently.
The colors were an experiment. That doesn't excuse them, mind, but I figured you'd all be glad to know I'm going back to my usual method on the next picture.

This is a gorgeous picture! Though, in my mind, it kind of looks like something that may have happened in canon, circa the start of sixth year.

OBS: Do I dislike or hate Snape? No I do not. Snape is in my eyes the best writen character in HP. And I respect him alot. I neither like nor dislike Snape. My view on this is unlike many other views not biased on personally dreams and hopes. I'm just sick of all this cry baby nonsense with him liking Lily and some fans going crazy about it.
Snape was prior Hogwarts all Slyherin. He wanted to be there and made his own friends there. (aka. the other deatheaters) Snape made his own choices freely because of his opinion. That he though well of one mudblood do not justify anything.
All characters in Harry Potter belongs to J.K. Rowling. This is what she said:

Do you understand what she means? There was only a chance for Lily to love Snape romantically if Snape wasn't Snape. He would have needed to be some one else. And even if he was a different person he would still only have a chance. James would still have been the person for Lily.
The romantic and fanbased relationship between Snape and Lily is nothing but an individual out of character views on them. The real Lily and the real Snape as J.K Rowling made them would never happen nor would it work.
The only way LilyxSnape ever could happen would be through a fanfiction with OOC characters. And make no mistake!
Putting Lily together with Snape is as far out of character you can go with her.
And to be awfully blunt here the LilyxSnape parring is nothing but a pity for Snape. Some people read the few pages in the Deathly Hallows and became "Nawww!!! That is so sad! He deserves some love!" And poff! Serval HP fans has made their own OOC characters and convinced them self that they are right when thinking LilyxSnape is "true love" and where meant for each others and all that crap <__<
Guess what. J.K says different.

And surprisingly there is alot of fans who blames Lily for Snape joining the Death Eaters. They thought that she should have forgiven him and that she should have continued to stand by his side... Really?
Lily was his friend for many years and because of that she defended him, made excuses for him and always came to his help when she could. Lily was an angel who did what she could for him and was an amazing friend. She thought of him when she defended him. But who did Snape though of? It was Snape and Snape alone who made him self that away. It was Snape who made his own choices regardless to Lily. He had her friendship and he had her helping and backing him up for many years. He stabbed her in the back. Years before he called her mudblood openly. He made his choices.
So blaming Lily for that has to be one of the most ignorant things I've heard.

And Snapes love can be questioned. He was more obsessed with her than love. All he wanted was that she should be his.
If he truly would have loved her, he would have cared for her. Not alone wanting her. He didn't cared for her loved ones. Lily had two persons who she loved more than her own life. Snape didn't gave a $hit about if Harry and James died. He just wanted her alone for him self and gave no second thoughts on what she felt. It was like, who care if James and Harry dies? Who care if she breaks down as long as I get her. As Dumbledore him self said to it. "It sickens me"
Lilys life was James and Harry. Snape didn't cared as long as he could claim her. And that selfish git didn't changed that until it actually hurt him self. He didn't cared until he felt the pain himself. He first changed when she died. When his obsession became a longing.
He didn't even thought of her first when it came to his choices in school.

While Snape wasn't all bad, he was still bad.
He cared for one muggle born. That don't makes up for his view on the others and it would never justify anything either. And rember that it was he alone who took away the friendship with Lily. It wasn't just the calling "mudblood" As Lily her self said after that sadly part, she was tired of making up excuses for him. She stood up and protected him due to their friendship. But he made his own choices and they ended up as it did.
Snape had his views on muggles. Caring for one of them will never justify it.
And frankly you don't just join Voldemort for fun or protection. You work for him.
It's only to be expected that Snape has killed, tortured and destroyed families.
Serveus Snape was a person who:
* Bullied and hated a little boy due to being a rival to the boys father.
* Favors students even tho that he is a teacher.
* Bullies and struck down on students he personally don't like.
* Looks down on muggleborns (expect one)
* Refuses to even listen to facts when an old rivalry comes back.
* Is obsessed with dark and dangerous arts.
* Gives no sympathy
* Served Lord Voldermort willingly for years.
* Bullies muggleborns. (Hermione in particular)
Draco hexes/curses Hermione and her teeth start growing longer and longer, past her lips, chin, collar. And Ron makes her show Snape, and he looks at her and says, "I see no difference."
So... A) He lets a student he favors to bully and hex a muggle born. B) He bully her him self.
Do I need to point out the fact that he is a teacher?
Really guys and girls. That is just sick. Any other headmaster and Snape would have been kicked out for a ticket to prison.
For that I'm also doubting Dumbledore.
And his looks by J.K's own writing:
Has sallow skin, a large, hooked nose, and yellow, uneven teeth. Has shoulder-length, greasy black hair which frames his face, and cold, black eyes. He wears black, flowing robes which give him the appearance of "an overgrown bat"
He has no appealing look and no appealing personality. It can't be his look. No offence to any body, may it be a character in HP or a fan of the series but feeling attracted to Snape is in many ways masochism and sadism.
Is that fact that Snape had a hard childhood an excuse for what he did? No. Snape is just a cry baby.
Did Sirius Black turn to dark the dark side despite that his family abused/hated/disowned him?
Did Lupin served Voldemort because the wizarding world shunned him because of his fury problem?
Sirius and Lupin experienced worse treatments than Snape but they remained on good side. By choice.

Both James and Snape loved Lily. Both had faults during school.
But between them it was James who changed who he was FOR Lily and gained her friendship and love while Snape went against her, following his obsession with the dark arts and sympathy for Lord Voldermort and there of loosing his friendship with Lily.
Both James and Snape had a choice. But it was only James who chose Lily.
Lily/Snape would never had worked nor would it ever happen. And it is wrong in so many way.
For all Lily/Snape fans... Nothing bad meant, but get real. Seriously.

Well, don't you think this is a bit extreme? Everyone gets that you don't like the pairing, and I myself am not a big supporter of it (in my opinion, she chose that dickwad of a boy, James) But still. There is no need to go on a big rant like this on a picture of the two of them. Start of join a forum or something. Don't be rude in the comments of someone's art.

I think the note would have said something like "Snape isn't looking. lets get outta this potions class" but this is snape not a teacher yet.
maybe they're saying "slughorn's pet stomach needs to lose some weight."

lol, it really is ironic, your author's note to this picture, considering what was revealed about their relationship in the later Harry Potter books. Of course, this was obviously done before the 5th book came out, but it's still just as "shocking" to discover their actual relationship.

Yes, I thought Ron and Hermione was okay, and Harry and Ginny was sorta cute [Cho was kind of superfluous], but Snape and Lily was the only pairing that really made sense. Even/especially Lily and James didn't really have a reason for happening unless James suddenly stopped being a jerk after school ended and then somehow got Lily to talk to him. Oo;;
