Ingrid is a contradiction: intelligent yet ignorant, confident yet unsure and fragile but strong. He is arrogant, yet almost completely unaware of his own potential; a child lost to time.

Ingrid is witty and naturally clever - a quick learner and a keen observer. He has a gift for words and postures, able to reflect a pristine, unflawed image of a young prince when he wants to. Ingrid was raised among the nobility, and has learned that social interactions are little more than games; tests of authority and wealth. These games do not allow for shows of weakness, and Ingrid has learned to be ruthless, as well as suspicious of anyone new.
His unnaturally short childhood, on the other hand, has made him naive, and Ingrid is far more ignorant and open to manipulation than he thinks he is. There are obvious gaps in his academic knowledge and his one-sided perspective on how people act and think means he often finds it downright impossible to understand or predict people who are not motivated by money and power. Ingrid would never admit this flaw and is prone to getting frustrated or hostile if he feels stupid.

Having been born into the public eye and held on a pedestal since he was born, Ingrid feels fundamentally disconnected from the real world. Ingrid’s upbringing as the darling of a nation has given him not only an inflated sense of self and importance but also a deep-seated fascination with anything that is different to him: in this case, the dirty, the mundane, the ordinary.
Having been raised by essentially herself and some of his older siblings, Ingrid is extremely resistant to authority figures and inappropriately rebellious. He likes to indulge in unconventional and shocking opinions and hobbies, especially if he thinks it will get him attention. Ingrid is critical of slavery, the class system, Aodh’s political agendas and everything else that he was taught to believe in - just because he was taught to believe in it. His budding social activism rings hollow, however, for Ingrid has no real grasp of how the world works.
Ingrid himself approaches the world with learned entitlement and the absolute knowledge that he is smarter and more aware than those around him; that he knows better. An inflated sense of ego caused by being raised by servants and being adored by the masses, Ingrid doesn’t truly realize how pampered and sheltered he is, and how much the world differs from how it is in his head.

Having come of age, Ingrid suddenly finds himself with no real safety net and little personal wealth. This makes him equal parts excited and terrified - he is both eager to see the real world and too proud to admit that he still feels like a child in need of assistance.
Ingrid is filled with the sensation of dissatisfaction at his current state, and a craving for something, anything, more. He desires the world he thinks he deserves and goes out looking for a fight, despite how ill-prepared he is. Ingrid is eager to prove himself to everyone, including himself.

Despite apparent arrogance a coddled upbringing gave him, beneath it all is honest curiosity and wonder at the world, but also nagging insecurity. Even Ingrid isn’t sure if he can live up to how special he supposedly is, and fears that no one will ever love him like they love the idea of him.

History:
I will need to edit the pronouns correctly please ignore those meanwhile rip
The birth of the first kirin in centuries was nothing short of a miracle - a foal touched by Ignacio himself. A new dawn for Aodh, and the entirety of Hireath as the world would soon discover, all in the form of a small child, covered in peach fuss and innocent as any soul upon entering the world.  Ingrid was born out of Emin Lilith, which in itself was absolutely no news - no one expected much from another foal touching the ground from the well-known royal disgrace. And yet there she was, peachy, shiny scales decorating her skin, unlike any baby the world had seen in so long. What else could she be but blessed, blessed by Ignacio, with even the sun quite literally on her forehead?

Almost freshly out of the womb Ingrid was presented to the world, causing quite the uproar. Many wondered what kind of an elaborate trick this was - a fake kirin? Had Emin Lilith finally gone entirely mad? But just a few moments later Ingrid was set ablaze by the Advisor Ember, and everyone watching was reminded of a valuable lesson: kirins do not burn. Ingrid was untouched by the fire that had just entirely engulfed her - not a single strand of her hair was damaged. Citizens, advisers, ambassadors and even the War Forged Warlord were watching in shock, the only damage done were the burn marks on Lilith’s feet in trying to save her child. Upon closer inspection everyone could see that the child was, indeed, a true kirin. Shaken and scared, yes, but entirely unharmed; scales firmly attached to her flesh.

The special child was sealed to Hearthstone, surrounded only by trusted people and not allowed further than the courtyard unguarded. At first, of course, it was easy. What else could a little infant want than all of the attention in the world? Anything she wanted, she could have. She was special, after all. To her, she had an entire family; her mother, and Ron, who she fully considered her father. Things like genetics and species were much too refined thoughts to even consider. And not to mention oh-so-many older siblings, most of them concerned in keeping little Ingrid safe.
Compared to other children mothered by Lilith, Ingrid was kept closer, under a watchful eye. No running in the opium den, but the Hearthstone was free range. She was watched after by trusted servile slaves, well taken care of but also deeply feared. Despite her occasional childish fits about being bored of all the safety, from her perspective her days were easy and full of love.

Her entire life, at first much unknown to her, was surrounded by many whispers and speculations. It didn’t help that she possessed the magic of illusion. It was just little sparks of magic, small images, distractions - very harmless, in a sense. To Ingrid it always came naturally, it was just another toy to play with, something to show what she was thinking when the words just wouldn’t come out right. When her entire existence seemed like a big trick still, the magic did cause many frowns during the passing months. Not to mention the poor slaves who had to endure her tricks, all the while being scared to death of being scorched alive any moment.

Ingrid’s days mostly passed by playing. Her absolute favorite was to manage to hide somewhere in the grand palace and wait to be found - a game only Ingrid truly enjoyed as she disappeared in pretty much a blink of an eye and caused many frantic search missions. But who would have told the giggling, happy kirin child no? In general, she had very little discipline in her life. And if she felt like she was spared too little attention, sitting in the fireplaces would usually send the servile slaves frantically running. She loved basking in the sun in the courtyard, and yearned to see past the palace walls.
Her first outing was a disaster as she got lost from Ron and other company, after which she was promptly returned to the safety of the palace. After that, her outings were short visits to social gatherings, during which she clung to Lilith for dear life, and accompanying her to Peers Court. During the court were the few times she would actually manage to sit still, listen and watch in awe all the new horses that appeared before her. Much of it were things she could not comprehend, but it didn’t really matter. She felt important, and it was a constant enough in her life. All in all, she was a pretty content child - sometimes bored, but usually not very long until another thing grasped her attention.

Things did, however, take a grim turn when her father-figure Ron died suddenly from a heart attack. Ingrid was too small to truly understand the concept of death, but she could feel the loss, and even more so the atmosphere it created. For a moment, her small world was entirely swallowed by grief. And then, a mere month later, her cousin, the King Amadeus was assassinated - a hard blow for the Royal family. Nothing felt quite the same, and definitely not as safe anymore. Childish giggles died for a while entirely, no matter how Ingrid was showered in fancy trinkets and toys. In her peachy eyes was a new, sharper look from time to time, something that is created when a child feels the need to grow up sooner than is truly their time. There was only so much even the palace walls could shield her from.

Ingrid was locked in a villa with her mother and siblings after the horrific events, to ensure their safety - or so it would be known. Technically, very little changed, but Ingrid did turn more inwards and her questions were focused more on death, the gods and the like.
Life in the villa was not as peaceful as could have been hoped, however. After an angry furia showed itself within the villa, the question of safety resurfaced once more. Just prior to being released, Lilith made the decision to give her daughter an aging potion; not to age her into an adult, but onto the threshold of teenage - around 13 years. This was not a decision that was made lightly, but it was so Ingrid would no longer be quite as vulnerable, but still has the much-needed years ahead for royal tutoring. A child is still easier to control and to keep under a watchful eye, which was behind the decision to not just let her be an adult. Her proper education is just starting, and distracted by the change Ingrid is once more opening up to the world, even if it is undeniable that the losses and being locked away are a cause for teenage angst and potential troublemaking. Now more than ever she is also interested in the fast, ever-beating pulse of the city that beats intoxicatingly beyond the walls separating her from the world. She is certain it flows in her veins, and is eager to know more.

In 1701 Ingrid convinced his brother Geremia to help him get another aging potion, and aged to 18 with it. Shortly after coming of age he stated he was trans, and started using masculine pronouns.
