Amias faces new situations with a smile that reaches her eyes with a playful twinkle, and she seems to always know just what to stay to balance on that delicate line of formal and lighthearted. She aspires to be a breath of fresh air as she enters a room, and to leave with a sweetness lingering in the air. Social schemes are her forte, and she is sweetly yet shamelessly good at slithering beyond personal walls and giving just the slightest push without straying too far from being proper. Her keen ears pick up gossip wherever she goes, and her easy-going nature is aimed to put others at ease as she uses them to gain the information she desires.
Amias is nothing but polite and sweet - or so it seems - her soft warmness being a stark contrast to her twin’s much more rigid appearance. Her softness does not equal weakness, however, quite the opposite - she has a sharp mind always ready for a comeback. She is quite the expert of concealing harsher opinions behind light jokes and puns - laughing at you when you don’t know you’re being laughed at.
Behind the lighthearted façade is a remorseless attitude from knowing what she wants, and being used to getting it. It is entirely like Amias to manipulate and twist others around her little finger, to accidentally go around a few rules and tell a couple of harmless lies. She is smart enough to organize herself deniability, and ruthless enough to smile as she tells a lie.
Amias never had any particular talent for cold numbers, ironclad facts or theories – she always was, and still is, far more interested in people. Psychology and social manipulation are her strong suits, but in contrast to her twin, she approaches them with charm and a seeming warmth. Amias is excellent at emulating empathy and finding out what people truly want. She uses her skills to make social connections with those in power, weaving a web of influence and camaraderie. A true Aodhian noble through and through, the elitism she was raised into shows in her every action, especially when dealing with lower class, and despite being seemingly sweet and kind, an entitled snootiness is obvious to those who watch her closely. While Amias has a natural talent for adapting and orienting herself to always make the most out of situations, she has never faced true adversity, and as a result, has a tendency to react to even minor inconveniences very strongly. She is excessively proud of her breeding and lineage, and carries herself with the assured, regal air of nobility. Admiration and obedience of the lower classes are not asked for; they are expected.
In private life, she is more genuine and fierier – a firecracker of opinions and desires. Totally at home with the hedonistic side of Aodhian lifestyle, she enjoys parties and social gatherings immensely, and is not averse to meaningless flings either. Her more artistic and perhaps even rebellious side shows in her purposeful mixing of luxury with the mundane: Amias is the type to lie in rough sand under the stars while sipping on the most expensive wines, just to experience it. A hedonist who is always chasing new and exciting conquests; she is easy to approach, but hard to win over. In her heart of hearts, she belongs to Paris, just as Paris belongs to her. They are of one soul, after all.
History:
Amias was a highly expected child, born in wedlock for two noble parents - Eminents Eudes and Jofre of House Siderei - freshly made the Head of the House and his spouse. The two were married for not only lineage, but for love as well, and were over the moon to be having children so soon with success.
Amias saw the light of the world just moments after her twin, Paris. Everyone was relieved that the babies were delivered healthy and strong, even if their birth had been difficult due to complications. It came as something of a surprise, since their birth father Jofre had had no troubles getting pregnant or carrying to term. He did, however, make a full recovery, even if told he should not attempt a pregnancy again. Sometimes Amias jokes to this day that of course Paris would have been stubborn enough to resist even being born normally - lovingly and lightheartedly said, of course.
Amias grew up fully believing she was one half of a whole, and shares a soul with her twin Paris. The two were inseparable, often taking advantage of their similar looks until the greying started and revealed their differences more when it came to looks.
Amias was always a sweet child, always approaching things with a smile and a curious attitude. She was the one dragging Paris everywhere, wanting to see and experience everything. To her, her more quiet sibling was a steadying force, and having him there made Amias feel much safer. As their family grew with a new marriage and half-siblings, Amias was very happy to have new playmates, but she did always prefer Paris over anyone. Even with her outgoing nature, she always took a liking to the idea of it being the two versus the world.
No money was spared in the education of the twins; from an esteemed kindlehearth to similarly expensive private schools with additional private tutors providing them with all the education they could possibly need. Amias always did well in school, but she was more interested in the equines around her rather than having her nose buried in a book at all times. She was always inclined to like art - while not being an exceptional artist herself, she had a good eye for it regardless. This natural understanding of flow and synergy translated well to her interactions with others, Amias always being quite the social butterfly. Her electives included creative writing and visual art, those generally being her highest grading classes due to her natural interest. Whenever her attentions would stray too far from the actual education, she could trust Paris to help her understand whatever she had missed to stay on top of her studies.
In upper secondary she took classics with Paris, and took the biggest interest in creative writing and as a newer fascination, psychology. She loved learning more about social history, boring dates and fancy names interesting her far less. She did sit with Paris for private tutoring in business management, but mostly spent it doodling in her notebooks. It was always obvious to her that Paris was the one with the business savvy mind and a firmer grasp on numbers, so instead Amias focused on being good with people. As she matured, the more she could use what she understood of the equine mind to her advantage.
This divide in interest did cause the twins to drift apart, and what time Paris spent with his rigorous studies, Amias chose to party and have fun, to experience the world beyond books and numbers. She did attempt numerous times to bring Paris with her to the social world, but it only served to drive a wedge deeper between them. This was all very puzzling to Amias, and the more she tried to regain Paris’ attention by more reckless behaviour with her fancy new ‘friends’, the harder she found to communicate with her twin.
Despite all of this, it was as big a shock to Amias as their parents when Paris announced he was going to attend university and move to an apartment - alone. She felt betrayed, and begged for their parents to stop Paris from doing this - but no one could turn Paris’ head. The twins had never been truly apart, and the ever-so-lively and social Amias felt truly lonely for the first time in her life. She, too, had planned on going to the Valore University, but was too distraught to actually attend. She took a few open classes here and there, a mismatch of art, culture and social studies. Her grades were far worse than usual, however, Paris not being there to push her through the courses.
Trying to rid herself of the painful loneliness and suddenly feeling vulnerable to the world, Amias threw herself further into the social circles - endless parties and social gatherings - anything to keep herself busy. She found out soon enough that there was no solace to be found in the bottoms of glasses or promiscuous flings.
When Paris then returned only a couple months later - what felt like an eternity to Amias - she was more than ready to throw herself into the arms of her twin and never let go. Their relationship only deepened when once more united, and Amias was more than happy to shower Paris in the attention rather than for once sharing it around. She had understood how much she truly needed Paris, and how the love they shared was unique and could never be replicated - and she told her twin as much.
Once everything was well in the world again - and their parents were extremely relieved - they attended university together the next year, gaining independence by living in an apartment just the two of them. They found strength in their differences, and had learned to rely on each other better due to their newly established trust. Amias was still the one in charge in social situations and making connections, but she had learned the importance of putting Paris first. And in turn, she stayed on top of her studies with the encouragement from her twin. The two graduated with honors, and it seemed like the whole world was at their feet.
After college, they decided to move together to Opulence. They spent their time living in their family owned farmhouse and learning about wine and vineyards. Amias rekindled with her love for the thought of her and Paris being together in their own bubble, apart from the rest of the world, and the two grew even closer. It wasn’t a perfect bubble, however, as they still stayed in contact to New Valore - Amias taking care of the more lightheared correspondence, and Paris being on top of the more serious letters.
They chose to return to New Valore after the New Years Ball took place, and they were more ingrained into the family business and even visited court on occasion. Their life formed into what could be considered pretty standard for nobles - responsibilities with business, and seemingly never ending parties and gatherings on the other hoof.
Amias made great use of her social skills, mingling with as many important people as she could manage, establishing connections as she went and bettering their standing in the social circles to the best of her abilities.
It was originally Paris’ idea to pursue the Envoy seats after their cousin Isador became King in 1700, and Amias was quick to agree on it. She was as much interested in the fame and fortune they could bring for their family, as getting to experience an entirely new social climate and both test and better her social abilities with brand new challenges. They petitioned in the end of 1700, and earned the seat through both their scholarly accomplishments and their distinguished noble lineage. They were both chosen as Envoys, since twins should never be separated.
